Competitive Intelligence Tools With an MCP Server (2026): The Five That Have One, Verified, and the Four That Do Not

01The short answer

Five competitive intelligence platforms can be called from an AI assistant today, and they split into two kinds. Curated intelligence over MCP: Klue, whose server hands sellers battlecards and win-loss inside Claude, and Linkeddit, whose server exposes weekly competitor briefs, complaint mining, and what four AI engines say about you, with the fix loop. Market data over MCP: Similarweb, Semrush and SE Ranking, whose servers expose traffic, search and AI visibility numbers your assistant can reason over. Rankscale adds a read-only server for its AI visibility data.

The rest of the shortlist does not show one. Crayon’s pages describe embedding intel into ChatGPT, Glean and Copilot and no MCP server. Kompyte, now Adobe’s via Semrush, has a custom GPT. Contify has an API, a Snowflake integration and buttons that open its pages in Claude, and no server. AlphaSense we could not verify either way. If your team lives in an assistant, that list is the shortlist, and the differences between the five are about what the server exposes and how it lets you in.

02Why an MCP server is the question in 2026

Every competitive intelligence review on this site ends the same way: the platforms that get used are the ones that show up where the user already works. Klue’s satisfied reviewers praise battlecards inside Salesforce; the r/ProductMarketing thread that describes switching Klue off describes an instance nobody opened. The place people work in 2026 increasingly includes an AI assistant, and the Model Context Protocol is how a product shows up there: a server the assistant connects to once, exposing tools it can call with your permission.

Two things follow. First, an MCP server is the difference between a tool and a tab. Second, what the server exposes matters more than that it exists. A server that returns market metrics gives your assistant numbers to reason about. A server that returns a curated battlecard gives a seller an answer. A server that can write lets the assistant do the governed part, saving a card or a fix for a human to approve. The five below sit at different points on that line, and the matrix says where.

03The five with an MCP server, verified on the day

1. Klue. The homepage leads with “Klue is officially in the Claude Connector Directory” and the integration page calls Klue “the only competitive intelligence and win-loss vendor verified on the official Claude Connector Directory”. What it exposes: search and read for every role (battlecards, recent pricing intel, win stories); create and update cards and battlecards for curators and admins; win-loss transcripts and reports for admins only. Authentication: OAuth 2.0 when an individual connects their own account, or a personal access token for server-side agents under central admin control. Price: Klue publishes none; Vendr’s median contract is $30,000 a year. 2. Similarweb. The developer documentation describes a pre-configured server at mcp.similarweb.com for Claude Desktop, Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, Zapier and n8n, requiring a Similarweb subscription with API access on API-only, Business or Enterprise plans and an API key. What it exposes: web metrics (traffic and engagement, traffic sources, rank, similar sites, referrals, audience overlap, demographics, technologies, PPC spend), search metrics (SERP players and clicks) and app metrics. It uses the same data credits as API calls. This is competitive intelligence in the market-data sense: how a rival’s traffic, channels and audience compare with yours, not what they shipped or what their users said.

3. Semrush. The MCP page: “Access Semrush’s full dataset right from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and more,” included in Semrush One and SEO Classic plans and available to API users, with guides for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code. What it exposes: keyword, domain, traffic and market data, with AI search data called out; the page’s example prompts are keyword strategy, content refresh and monthly SEO reports. It does not mention Kompyte, Semrush’s competitive intelligence product, so a Kompyte customer’s battlecards are not shown to be reachable this way. Semrush itself has been an Adobe company since 28 April 2026.

4. SE Ranking. The MCP page: “Put 180+ SEO and GEO tools behind every prompt: keyword data, backlinks, domain insights, audits, AI search visibility, and more.” Included in every subscription on the plan’s API credits, with 100,000 free credits on the trial and a pay-as-you-go API plan from $50 for 250,000 credits for people who want only MCP. Clients listed: Claude web, desktop and Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex, Zed, Gemini CLI, and the ChatGPT connector directory. The competitive intelligence angle is domain analysis and competitor research plus AI visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews; the page’s example prompt builds a competitor AI search report with a visibility leaderboard. Open-source Claude Skills are listed on top.

5. Linkeddit. Ours, so read it with that in mind. One remote connector, OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, a public client with no secret and no API key, 65 tools: 37 for Answer Radar, which measures what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude say about you and your competitors and carries the gap through a fix and a re-measurement, and 27 for the competitor brief, switching signals, complaint search, leads, keywords and Reddit. Writes are tools, governed: saving a fix for human approval, setting a schedule, creating a share link. Included with the Compete plan at $99 a month. Also: Rankscale. An AI visibility tracker rather than a competitive intelligence platform, but its MCP page is worth naming because it is the most explicit about limits: “The connection is read-only: your assistant can look up and summarise your data, but it can never change your brands, search terms, or settings,” sign in with your normal login, no API key, revoke any time, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex. Crayon. Named a Leader in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Competitive and Market Intelligence Platforms this year, and the CI vendor the AI engines name first on our own measured run. Its homepage links a recorded session titled “Connecting CI to AI Tools: learn how to embed competitive intel into ChatGPT, Glean, Copilot, and more”; its Sparks page describes an agent that runs inside Crayon; its integrations page lists CRMs, communications platforms, enablement tools, conversation intelligence and SSO. No MCP server on any of them on the day. Playwise HQ’s comparison says Crayon “markets an MCP server” and cites the Sparks page; the Sparks page we fetched contains no such statement. Kompyte. Adobe’s since 28 April 2026, through Semrush. The navigation carries a “Kompyte GPT”, the plans page lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack and Teams integrations, and Semrush’s MCP server, which a Kompyte customer on a Semrush plan may already have, exposes search data without mentioning Kompyte. The honest position for a buyer: your assistant can reach Semrush’s numbers, and there is no public evidence it can reach your Kompyte battlecards. Adobe’s stated reason for buying Semrush is visibility in AI interfaces and agents, so this may change; ask.

Contify. A Gartner Visionary in the same quadrant, with API v4, a Snowflake integration, embeddable widgets, and “Summarize With AI” buttons that open its pages in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Grok and Gemini, plus an ai-info page written for LLMs to read. Contify has clearly thought about being read by assistants; it has not, on its public pages, made its data callable by them. Its Gartner post argues for governed data over general-purpose LLMs, which is exactly the argument for an MCP server.

AlphaSense. Positioned highest in the same Gartner quadrant per a rival’s summary. We did not fetch AlphaSense’s pages for this article, and a search for an official AlphaSense MCP server returned no announcement, only a third-party note that FactSet, a different company, announced one in December 2025. Treat AlphaSense as unverified rather than absent.

06Which one, for which job

A seller who wants the battlecard inside Claude: Klue. It is the only enterprise CI platform with a directory-listed server, the only one whose server updates battlecards, and its permission model maps to the roles a sales organisation already has. Budget five figures, and ask about the personal access token option in writing.

A strategist who wants traffic and audience numbers in the conversation: Similarweb, with an API-access plan and a key. Its server is the deepest market-data surface here: channels, audience overlap, technologies and PPC spend for any domain you name.

An SEO who wants search data and AI visibility on one connection: SE Ranking, whose server is included in every plan and is the broadest we could verify, or Semrush if you are already on Semrush One or SEO Classic and want its dataset. Neither exposes curated competitor intelligence; both expose the numbers a competitor analysis is built from.

A founder or small team that wants to know what competitors did this week, what their users complain about, and what AI engines say when a buyer asks: Linkeddit, which is what we built and why this article exists. Every capability is a tool, the write actions are governed, there is no key to rotate, and it is included in a $99 plan. It does not build battlecards or interview buyers; the Klue review says when that is the right call instead.
