Ahrefs Brand Radar vs Peec AI (2026): The Index vs the Tracker, the Team That Switched, and What Engines Say
This is the comparison an Ahrefs customer actually made in public. In Ahrefs' own feedback thread on r/bigseo, an enterprise team said it went with Peec because Brand Radar's data felt like rehashed keyword data. Both vendors were read on the day: Ahrefs' two pricing pages through a paid proxy and Peec's pricing as full text, after an extractor had dropped its price nodes and produced a false claim we corrected. The measured section is ours and labelled.
Key takeaways
- Verified 4 September 2026: Ahrefs sells a 462M-prompt AI Visibility Index at $199 standalone or with Lite $129 and above, and Custom Prompts metered in checks from $50 for 2,500 at $0.02 each. Peec sells Starter $80 a month annual (about $95 monthly) for 50 prompts on three models, Pro $205 (about $245) for 150, Advanced $420 (about $495) for 350, with add-on models at $30, $70 and $140 by tier.
- Three units. Ahrefs: checks, one prompt on one platform in one location. Peec: prompts, on exactly three models per tier, with a fourth model costing an add-on. Fifty prompts on three engines daily is $100 on Ahrefs and $80 to $95 on Peec; on four engines it is $100 on Ahrefs and $110 to $125 on Peec.
- Ahrefs has the index, six engines plus Claude on the index tier, Reddit-in-Google and YouTube transcripts, and a two-year history. Peec has unlimited users, position and sentiment per prompt, Peec Actions, Looker Studio on Advanced, and an official documented MCP.
- Peec's MCP is documented at docs.peec.ai. Ahrefs lists an MCP Server; Brand Radar coverage is unstated.
- Reviews: Peec 4.8 on 20 G2 reviews. Ahrefs is rated as a suite; the product voice is Ahrefs' own r/bigseo thread, where one team left for Peec and another stayed for the history.
- Measured on our prompts, Ahrefs was named on Claude and Gemini, Peec on Gemini only, tied with Ahrefs there. Neither company's pages were cited more than once across 220 answers.
- Neither drafts a fix against the recorded citations or re-measures to show it moved.
01The short answer
If you pay for Ahrefs, start there: Custom Prompts are included and the index is a click away. If you are buying a dedicated tracker, Peec is the cleaner product for tracking your own buying questions, with unlimited users and an MCP you can read the docs for, at the cost of a three-model cap that makes the fourth engine an add-on. If you want to see the whole market’s visibility without configuring prompts, only Ahrefs sells that, for $199.
The one thing to know before the tables: these are two different shapes of product that overlap on one feature. Brand Radar is an index with a tracker attached; Peec is a tracker with recommendations attached. The Ahrefs customers who moved to Peec did so because they wanted the tracker and found the index irrelevant to their brand.
02Pricing on the day
Ahrefs’ pages were fetched through a paid proxy on 4 September 2026 after the free fetcher timed out; Peec’s pricing was fetched as full text the same day, because a content extractor had earlier dropped its price nodes and produced a false “publishes no price” claim on this site, corrected that day and recorded in our editorial policy.
| What you are buying | Ahrefs Brand Radar | Peec AI |
|---|---|---|
| Entry for your own prompts | Custom Prompts: included with Ahrefs plans (Lite $129 5 prompts/150 checks, Standard $249 10/300, Advanced $449 20/600); packages $50/2,500 checks, $100/7,000, $250/25,000 | Starter $80/month billed annually, about $95 monthly: 50 prompts, 3 models, 1 project, unlimited users, daily |
| Mid tier | Growth $100: 7,000 checks, $0.015 overage | Pro $205 annual, about $245 monthly: 150 prompts, 3 models, 2 projects |
| Upper tier | Scale $250: 25,000 checks, $0.01 overage; $699 all models printed unexplained | Advanced $420 annual, about $495 monthly: 350 prompts, 3 models, 5 projects, multi-country, Looker Studio |
| More engines | All platforms on the $199 index; Claude available there | Add-on model: $30, $70, $140 a month by tier; Enterprise up to 11 models |
| Any-brand index | AI Visibility Index, 462M prompts, $199 standalone or with Lite+ | None |
| Users | Ahrefs plan seats | Unlimited on every tier |
| Trial | Not stated for standalone | Not stated on the pages we read |
| Enterprise | Enterprise from 83 prompts/day and 2,500 checks | Custom, annual, all models, API, SSO |
03Checks vs prompts vs models, priced out
Ahrefs meters checks and its price per check falls with volume. Peec meters prompts and caps models at three per tier, with a fourth an add-on. Here is what the same programmes cost, using only printed figures and Peec’s annual rates.
| Programme, daily | Ahrefs | Peec |
|---|---|---|
| 50 prompts, 3 engines | about 4,500 checks; Growth $100 | Starter $80 annual |
| 50 prompts, 4 engines incl. Claude | about 6,000 checks; Growth $100 | Starter $80 plus $30 add-on: $110 |
| 150 prompts, 3 engines | about 13,500 checks; Growth plus overage, about $200, or Scale $250 | Pro $205 annual |
| 350 prompts, 4 engines | about 42,000 checks; Scale plus 17,000 overage at $0.01, about $420 | Advanced $420 plus $140 add-on: $560 |
| Any brand, no setup | $199 index | Not available |
At small programmes on three engines the two are within twenty dollars of each other and Peec is slightly cheaper. Add Claude and Ahrefs pulls ahead, because a check is a check whatever the platform while Peec’s fourth model is an add-on. At large programmes Ahrefs’ falling per-check rate wins clearly. Peec’s counter is not price; it is unlimited users, a per-prompt view of position and sentiment, and an interface Ahrefs’ own customers describe as easier.
04An index bolted to a suite vs a tracker built as one
Ahrefs Brand Radar is two products under one name, and its page says so: “Track visibility two ways”. The AI Visibility Index expands queries from the Ahrefs keyword database into natural questions with People Also Ask and semantic fan-out, runs them through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, stores the answers, and lets you type any brand to see its visibility across 462 million prompts. Custom Prompts is the tracker: your questions, daily, across the platforms you choose, with cited pages and domains recorded. It also tracks Reddit threads ranking in Google and mentions inside YouTube transcripts, which an Ahrefs customer called “strong, because nobody does it”.
Peec AI is a tracker. You define prompts, choose three models per tier, and Peec records visibility, mention position, sentiment, citations and share of voice per prompt, daily. Peec Actions turn the data into recommendations for content gaps, source opportunities and competitor weaknesses. Higher tiers add multi-country tracking, Looker Studio integration and more projects, and every tier has unlimited users, which matters for agencies. Peec has no market index: what you see is what your prompts returned.
The design difference decides who each fits. An index answers “how visible is this brand in the market” and is weakest for niche brands whose buyers ask questions Google never saw, which is exactly the case Ahrefs’ own page routes to Custom Prompts. A tracker answers “what do the engines say when asked my buyers’ questions” and cannot tell you anything about a brand you did not configure.
05MCP: documented vs listed
Peec publishes an official MCP server at docs.peec.ai, and a marketer who spent a month testing tools wrote in r/Agentic_Marketing that Peec’s “MCP integration is useful if you want to build custom workflows around it”. Ahrefs lists an MCP Server among the features of its paid plans, and Ahrefs said in its r/bigseo thread that it has made its API more accessible and released a free Domain Rating endpoint. Whether the Ahrefs MCP exposes Brand Radar data, or only the SEO datasets, is not stated on the pages we read.
So for a buyer who works in Claude or Cursor, Peec is the one whose AI visibility data you can confirm is callable before you buy. For comparison, every Linkeddit capability, including the fix draft and the re-measurement, is an MCP tool over one URL on the $99 plan; the connector page lists them and the playbooks are recorded transcripts.
06The team that switched, in Ahrefs' own thread
Peec has 20 G2 reviews at 4.8 out of 5 and Ahrefs is rated as a suite, so the best evidence for this specific comparison is a thread where the two are weighed by a paying customer in front of the vendor. Ahrefs’ CMO posts a feedback thread in r/bigseo every year or two, and the 2026 edition asked “have you tried our Brand Radar tool? What do you think of it?”
One reply, from someone running enterprise accounts: “We ended up going with Peec.ai because Ahrefs Brand Radar data seemed like rehashed keyword data, curious if that’s improved a lot since its rollout.” Another customer stays: “Since brand radar sits on a load of data collected over the years I’m sticking with it. Others show methodology but they don’t have historical data for any kind of triangulation.” A third gave the balanced version: the index “is a moat, but for me it looks like it’s not that critical for many brands. The biggest gap for me is UX/UI. It looks too technical.”
Read the three together and the comparison writes itself. A team that wants its own prompts tracked in a clean interface leaves for Peec. A team that wants the history and the market view stays. Neither is wrong about what they describe. Peec’s own critics, in r/aeo, say it takes time to learn its dashboard and shows market share more than actions, which is the same shape of complaint from the other direction.
“We ended up going with Peec.ai because Ahrefs Brand Radar data seemed like rehashed keyword data, curious if that's improved a lot since its rollout.”
07Measured: what four AI engines say about Ahrefs and Peec
This section is ours and labelled as such. On 4 September 2026 we ran our own Answer Radar project for linkeddit.com, 21 approved buying questions about AI visibility and competitive intelligence tools, through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity via their official APIs with grounded search. Neither vendor is a tracked competitor on that project, so these are mentions the engines volunteered. Per engine, admissible samples only, counts stated, per the methodology.
| Engine (admissible samples) | Ahrefs | Peec | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude (10) | 4.8% share of voice, 5 of 104 votes; sentiment 67% positive over 6 labelled mentions | Not in the top five vendors | Ahrefs second only to Semrush on Claude |
| Gemini (15) | 4.5% share of voice, 7 of 156 votes; sentiment 50% positive over 8 | 4.5% share of voice, 7 of 156 votes | Tied on Gemini |
| ChatGPT (7) | Not in the top five vendors | Not in the top five vendors | Neither made ChatGPT's shortlists on our prompts |
| Perplexity (3) | Not in the top five vendors | Not in the top five vendors | Three admissible samples; too few to read |
Across our full population of 220 completed answers about this category, ahrefs.com was cited once, by Perplexity, and peec.ai was cited zero times. Both brands are named as vendors far more than either company’s own pages are read: the engines cite review sites, directories and roundups about tools, not the tools. The fan-out for our AI visibility prompts shows why: Gemini searched “Generative Engine Optimization GEO tools B2B SaaS” and Claude searched “best AI visibility tools B2B SaaS”, phrasings that roundups own and vendors do not.

09Verdict
Pick Ahrefs Brand Radar if you already pay for Ahrefs, if you want the index and a market view without configuring prompts, if Claude, Copilot, Reddit-in-Google or YouTube transcripts matter, if you run a large prompt programme where falling per-check rates pay, or if a two-year history is worth more to you than a cleaner interface.
Pick Peec AI if you are buying a dedicated tracker from scratch, you want unlimited users and per-prompt position and sentiment, three engines are enough or a fourth is worth the add-on, you want recommendations attached to the data, and you want an MCP whose docs you can read before you buy.
Pick ours if you want four engines including Claude at a fixed $99 with no model cap and no per-seat multiplier, MCP that carries the actions as well as the data, and the measurement to end in a fix drafted from what the engines actually read and a re-measurement that says whether it moved. Answer Radar has no index; if the index is the point, buy Ahrefs.
Your own prompts, four engines including Claude, the fix drafted and re-measured, for $99
Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude your buyers’ questions, stores every cited page and every fan-out search, ranks the gaps by evidence, drafts the fix from what the engines actually read, and re-measures. It produced the measured section above.
10Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper, Ahrefs Brand Radar or Peec AI?+
For your own prompts, Ahrefs, by a distance: its Custom Prompts packages start at $50 a month for 2,500 checks at $0.02 a check, where a check is one prompt on one platform in one location, so 50 prompts on three engines daily is about 4,500 checks, the $100 Growth package. Peec's Starter is $80 a month billed annually, about $95 monthly, for 50 prompts on three models of your choice, daily, with unlimited users. For any-brand market visibility only Ahrefs has a product: the $199 index, or Ahrefs Lite at $129 and above. Prices read on 4 September 2026.
What does Peec do that Brand Radar does not?+
It is built as a tracker, and it shows. Peec runs your prompts on the three models you choose per tier, with position, sentiment, citations and share of voice, unlimited users, Peec Actions that turn gaps into recommendations, Looker Studio and multi-country on the Advanced tier, and an official MCP server documented at docs.peec.ai. Ahrefs customers in Ahrefs' own feedback thread describe the reasons someone moves: Brand Radar's interface reads too technical, and its index data felt like rehashed keyword data, so one enterprise team went with Peec for tracking their own prompts.
What does Brand Radar do that Peec does not?+
The 462-million-prompt AI Visibility Index: type any brand and see its visibility across real search-derived prompts with no setup, plus AI-adjusted demand estimates. Peec has no index; you see what your configured prompts return. Ahrefs also lists more engines, six plus Claude on the index tier, against Peec's three per tier with paid add-on models, and tracks Reddit results in Google and YouTube transcripts. And Ahrefs has a two-year history of collected data, which one customer said is why they stayed.
Do both have MCP servers?+
Peec's is official and documented at docs.peec.ai; a month-long Reddit comparison called its MCP integration useful for custom workflows. Ahrefs lists an MCP Server among its plan features, but whether it exposes Brand Radar data is not stated on the pages we read. For AI visibility data inside Claude or Cursor, Peec is the one you can verify from the docs today.
Which do AI engines mention?+
On our own 21 buying questions measured 4 September 2026, Ahrefs was named on Claude at 4.8 percent share of voice and on Gemini at 4.5 percent; Peec was named on Gemini at 4.5 percent, tied with Ahrefs there, and not in the top five on Claude or ChatGPT. Across 220 answers in our wider population, ahrefs.com was cited once and peec.ai zero times. Both are named more than they are cited.
Which should a B2B SaaS team pick?+
If you already pay for Ahrefs, use Custom Prompts first; they are included and the marginal cost of a first look is zero. If you are buying a tracker from scratch and want a clean interface, unlimited users and a documented MCP, Peec at $80 annual is the stronger dedicated tool, with the caveat that three models per tier means Claude costs extra. If you want the index, only Ahrefs has one. If you want the fix drafted from the recorded citations and re-measured, neither does; that is what we sell.
