Airtable and Linkeddit in Claude: competitor and search data in your bases
An Airtable base built from a competitive analysis template gives you tables, views and owners, but not the facts that fill them. Linkeddit measures competitor moves, where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you, and your Google ranks. Claude reads that data and writes records into Airtable through the Airtable connector, after you approve each write.

ReadWhat is the Airtable connector and what can Claude do with it?
The Airtable connector is Airtable's own MCP server at https://mcp.airtable.com/mcp, which lets an AI client such as Claude read and update your bases. Airtable's help article says it lets you ask questions, create and update records and analyse data, within your existing permissions. The Agent Index lists 12 tools: 5 reads, 6 writes and a ping.
Three limits matter here. Creating records is capped at 10 per request. Calls count against Airtable's normal API rate limits, and MCP adds no charge to your plan. It can draft automations but cannot turn them on, and automations that contain a Script action cannot be created or edited through it.
How do Airtable and Linkeddit split the work?
Airtable is where the records live. The connector lists 12 tools, 5 reads, 6 writes and a ping: list_bases, search_bases, list_tables_for_base, get_table_schema and list_records_for_table to read, and create_table, create_field, create_records_for_table, update_field, update_records_for_table and update_table to change a base. Airtable's help article says it respects your permissions, counts against API rate limits and creates records 10 at a time.
Linkeddit is where the facts come from. Compete grades competitor moves weekly and stores their reviews. Answer Radar asks the five engines your buying questions and records who is named, recommended and cited. Search records weekly Google ranks and the AI Overview above them. All of it is one plan at $60 a month, and Linkeddit writes no analysis.
Claude sits between them. It reads Linkeddit's data, proposes the records and writes them to Airtable only after you approve.
What does Airtable's own AI already do here?
Airtable's competitive analysis template listing says it monitors competitor messaging, content, pricing, revenue and product updates, and links competitor data to customer records for win and loss analysis. Its SEO guide describes field agents that draft metadata, cluster keywords and summarise competing pages, and automations that refresh rankings weekly.
These are strong for work inside your base. They do not replace a measurement. Linkeddit's latest weekly brief on the test project recorded 19 competitor moves across 4 analysed competitors, each with a source link, and its Search checks recorded whether Google's AI Overview cited the domain for each of 25 keywords.
Three guides in this hub each take one job: a competitive analysis base with battlecards, a rank tracking base and an SEO checklist.
How do I build an AI visibility dashboard in Airtable?
Airtable's interfaces chart whatever data you store, but nothing inside a base measures how often an AI answer names you. That measurement has to come from outside.
Answer Radar stores it. Ask Claude to read the latest results with answer_results_get and the run records with answer_runs_get, then write one record per buying question and engine into an Answer results table: whether you were named, who else was, and the sources cited. An Airtable interface can then chart share of voice by engine and week.
Store the sample count beside every rate. Linkeddit says in each answer result that its measurement is a controlled proxy for the consumer products, and a rate over three samples is not a rate over thirty.
The starting point for many teams is plain. A startup founder on Reddit wrote: "What surprises me is that many companies still rely on spreadsheets, saved tabs, screenshots, and occasional alerts for competitor tracking." A base with a record per finding is the step up from that.
Should I trust a claim of AI-powered competitor monitoring?
Ask for the source. A feed of competitor moves is only useful if you can open the page each move came from. Linkeddit returns a source URL on every signal, a priority, and a why it matters line, and it says plainly when a monitor has not been analysed. In the run above, the test project's own monitor was still pending with a count of 0.
Treat any tool that claims to analyse thousands of insights with the same question: which ones, from where, and can I see them? Keep the answer in an Airtable field so the base itself can be audited later.
Is Airtable with Claude a growing search topic?
On Google Trends for the United States over 12 months, airtable claude reached its peak in the week of 2026-04-26 and was at 21 percent of that peak in the latest week, with a rising direction over the last stretch. airtable seo and airtable competitive analysis were too small to register on the same scale, so most people search for the Claude pairing, not the workflow.
Trends is relative, never a count of searches, and the three terms were compared in one call, so read it as direction only. It is the reason the guides here start from the data you want in the base, not from the connector.
How should I approach any change Claude makes in Airtable?
Start with one base and one week of data. Ask Claude to show every record before it writes. Airtable's help article describes a read-only setup using only the read scopes, which is a sensible first step if you want Claude to inspect a base before it changes anything.
Keep measured numbers and your judgment in separate fields, and give the connection only the bases it needs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use AI for competitive analysis in Airtable?+
Keep a competitor moves table in Airtable and let Claude fill it from Linkeddit's weekly brief. Each record carries the competitor, move, priority, why it matters and a source link. Airtable's own AI helps inside the base, but a weekly measured feed keeps the analysis current.
What is the best tool for Airtable competitive analysis?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data. Compete grades competitor moves weekly from their blogs, changelogs and watched pages, with a source link on each, and stores their reviews. Claude files the results into Airtable through the Airtable connector. Airtable supplies the template; Linkeddit supplies what changed.
Can Claude connect to Airtable?+
Yes. Airtable hosts an MCP server at mcp.airtable.com. In Claude Code, claude mcp add --transport http airtable https://mcp.airtable.com/mcp adds it, and /mcp authenticates in your browser. It lists 12 tools, and it works only with the bases and permissions you grant it.
Can I build an AI share of voice report in Airtable?+
Yes, as a table of results. Claude reads Answer Radar's results with answer_results_get and writes one record per question and engine, with who was named and which sources were cited. Airtable's interfaces then chart it. Keep the sample count beside every rate, since the measurement is a proxy.
Does Linkeddit change my Airtable bases?+
No. Linkeddit supplies data and writes nothing to Airtable. Changes go through the Airtable connector, and Claude proposes each one for your approval. Linkeddit's own write is answer_action_update, which moves a card in Answer Radar and also waits for your approval.
Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Airtable connectors?+
These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. Airtable says its MCP server works with other clients too, but the workflows here have only been written for Claude, so do not assume they carry over unchanged.
What is the best way to track competitors in Airtable?+
Linkeddit, because Compete grades competitor moves every week from their blogs, changelogs and watched pages and attaches a source link to each. Claude writes one Airtable record per move through the Airtable connector. On the test project one week held 19 moves across 4 analysed competitors, 2 of them high priority.
What is the Airtable MCP server?+
It is Airtable's remote MCP server at mcp.airtable.com, which lets an AI client read and update your bases within your own permissions. The Agent Index lists 12 tools: list_bases, search_bases, list_tables_for_base, get_table_schema, list_records_for_table, create_table, create_field, create_records_for_table, update_field, update_records_for_table, update_table and ping.
Does the Airtable connector cost extra?+
No. Airtable's help article says the MCP integration is included with your current plan with no additional charges. Existing API rate limits still apply, and records Claude creates count against your base limits. Linkeddit's connector is separate and comes with the $60 a month plan.
Can I give Claude read-only access to Airtable?+
Yes. Airtable's help article says a read-only connection uses only the data.records:read, schema.bases:read, data.recordComments:read and workspacesAndBases:read scopes. Enterprise admins can set up a centralized read-only connection with a service account. Start there if you only want Claude to inspect a base.
What can Claude not do through the Airtable connector?+
Per Airtable's help article, it can draft automations but cannot switch them on, and it cannot create or edit automations that contain a Script action. It cannot add filters to an interface or edit an existing one. Creating records is capped at 10 per request.
