Publish to WordPress from Claude: research, draft, then a WordPress.com draft
To publish to WordPress from Claude, connect the WordPress.com connector, let Claude write the post from your keyword research, and have it create the post as a draft. WordPress.com's posts.create makes a draft by default and every write needs your confirmation. If your account is set to Read only, Claude cannot write, so it hands you the finished text to paste.

Connect both
Your AI client sits in the middle. Linkeddit supplies the data; the other connector makes the change.
Linkeddit connector
Add https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp as a connector and sign in. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http linkeddit https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
WordPress.com connector
- Claude: add the WordPress.com connector from the Connectors Directory and sign in.
- Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http wpcom-mcp https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1, then run /mcp to sign in.
- At the consent screen choose Full access if you want Claude to create drafts. Read only turns every write tool off.
- Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
Endpoint: https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1
Works in: Claude, Claude Code.
The prompt
Paste into Claude
Use the Linkeddit connector and the WordPress.com connector. 1) With Linkeddit, read my keyword research with keyword_research_get, pick the three keywords with the highest priority, and check the live Google results for the first with keyword_serp. 2) Write the post yourself: answer the query in the first paragraph, use headings that are real questions, and cite a source for every number. 3) Save the article in Linkeddit with article_save so I have a copy. 4) With WordPress.com, read the active theme presets with the site editor context tool, then create the post with posts.create as a draft, with categories and tags that already exist on my site. Never publish and never call posts.update with a status of publish. Show me the draft before you create it. If write tools are off, give me the finished text to paste instead.
Step by step
Step 1
Connect and choose the access level
Add both connectors. WordPress.com uses OAuth 2.1 in the browser, so there is no application password and no plugin to install. At sign-in you choose Full access or Read only. Only Full access turns on the write tools that a draft needs.
Step 2
Pick the keyword from Linkeddit
Claude reads your keyword research with keyword_research_get and, for a live look at one query, keyword_serp or keyword_autocomplete. With view brief it assembles a writing brief for up to ten chosen keywords from one job.
Step 3
Write and save the article
Claude writes the post, since Linkeddit supplies data and writes nothing itself. Saving the article with article_save keeps a copy in Linkeddit before anything touches your site.
Step 4
Match the theme before creating the draft
WordPress.com recommends calling its site editor context tool first, so the content uses the theme's preset slugs instead of hard-coded colors and sizes. Claude then calls posts.create, which creates the post as a draft by default.
Step 5
Review in WordPress, then publish yourself
Open the draft in the editor and read it in your theme. Publishing is a separate act: posts.update with a status of publish goes live immediately, so keep that step for yourself or approve it explicitly.
What Linkeddit returned
Run live on 2026-10-29 with keyword_research_get. Read-only run on Linkeddit's own test project (an analytics site). It lists the research jobs Claude would pick keywords from. The keyword rows came back with names and source but empty score fields in this read, so no priority ranking is shown. article_save writes, so it is a step above and was not run.

]Can Claude publish to WordPress, and what can it write?
Yes, through the WordPress.com connector, with limits. The Agent Index lists 16 tool names for it, mostly reads and searches, and classifies only one as a write. WordPress.com's own tools reference is more specific: its content authoring tool lists posts.create, which makes a draft by default, posts.update, block-level post-sections operations, pages.create, media.create and categories and tags.
Which of those Claude can use depends on your account. The vendor says the tools a user sees depend on the site's plan and hosting, the user's permissions and the tool settings on the account, and that choosing Read only at sign-in turns off every write tool. If Claude reports it cannot create a post, check that setting before anything else.
Early viewers asked about this. On WordPress.com's official Claude video, which has 122,000+ views, a WordPress site owner on YouTube asked in April whether they could edit their site content yet, and another asked in March when the edit function would roll out.
Why a draft and not a published post?
WordPress.com requires confirmation on every write: the agent must describe what it plans to do, ask for explicit approval and pass user_confirmed as true. posts.create makes a draft unless you say otherwise, while posts.update with a status of publish goes live immediately. A draft keeps you in the loop for the one step that is visible to readers and to Google.
The ranking tutorials take the same position. Anicca's guide pushes the post to WordPress as a draft for final review, and describes about 15 minutes of one-off setup with an application password and an environment file, plus a reusable skill. It also says the method needs Claude Code or Claude Desktop, since browser tools cannot call the REST API or read your local drive.
The WordPress.com connector skips that setup. It signs in through the browser with OAuth, so no application password sits on your laptop, and you can revoke access under Security, then Connected applications.
How do I go from keyword research to the post?
Start with the keyword, not the draft. Linkeddit's keyword_research_get lists your research jobs and their scored keywords with intent and a suggested landing page, and keyword_serp shows who ranks now. Ask Claude to open the top results for the keyword and write something that answers what they miss, with a source for every number.
With view brief, keyword_research_get assembles a writing brief for up to ten chosen keywords from one job. Claude writes the article, and article_save stores it in Linkeddit, so you keep a copy outside your site. On the test project the research job listed 60 scored keywords and 42 filtered out, which shows how much the first pass removes before anyone writes.
Then hand it to WordPress.com as a draft. The vendor also lists media.create, which can add an image from a public https URL up to 50 MB, and categories.list and tags.list so Claude can reuse the ones you already have.
What if my site is self-hosted, or write tools are off?
This connector is WordPress.com's. Its documentation says Jetpack-connected self-hosted sites reach the same server and the same tool catalog, and does not describe a route for a self-hosted site with no Jetpack connection. A commenter on the official video asked whether it works on self-hosted WordPress and the question had 16 likes. Another reported a permissions error that mentioned a Jetpack plan, while the vendor page says no Jetpack plan is needed, so confirm what your account shows.
If write tools are off or unavailable, use the handoff path. Claude still writes the post and saves it with article_save. It then gives you the title, the HTML or block text and the suggested slug, and you paste it into the editor as a new draft. Nothing in this workflow requires Claude to publish.
The alternatives are the REST API with an application password, which daext describes as needing no plugin and no MCP server, or a plugin such as WP MCP Ultimate, which claude-blog.md describes as giving Claude Code 58 WordPress abilities. Those suit self-hosted sites with no Jetpack connection.

ReadFrequently asked questions
How do I publish to WordPress from Claude?+
Add the WordPress.com connector, sign in with full access, and ask Claude to write the post and create it with posts.create, which makes a draft by default. Review the draft in WordPress and publish it yourself. If write tools are off, Claude gives you the text to paste into the editor.
What is the best tool to go from keyword research to a WordPress post?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the research half. It holds your scored keywords, shows the live Google results for one query and assembles a writing brief, while Claude writes the post and article_save stores it. The WordPress.com connector then creates the draft, so research, writing and drafting happen in one conversation.
Can Claude be used with WordPress?+
Yes. WordPress.com documents a Claude connector, a Claude Code command and a built-in MCP server at public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1. It works on WordPress.com sites, and the vendor says Jetpack-connected self-hosted sites use the same server. Other self-hosted sites need a plugin or the REST API instead.
Can Claude publish a post live, or only a draft?+
Both are possible with full access. posts.create makes a draft by default, and the vendor says posts.update with a status of publish goes live immediately. Every write needs your confirmation. This page recommends draft only, so a person reads the post in the theme before it is public.
Do I need a plugin or an application password?+
Not for the WordPress.com connector. It signs in with OAuth 2.1 in your browser, and you can revoke it under Security, then Connected applications. Application passwords and plugins are the route for the REST API and plugin tutorials, such as Anicca's and claude-blog.md's, which suit self-hosted sites.
Does Linkeddit publish to my WordPress site?+
No. Linkeddit supplies keyword and search data and can store the article Claude writes with article_save. The WordPress.com connector creates the draft on your site, and only if you granted write access and approve the action. Linkeddit has no credentials for your WordPress account.
