Get your Webflow site cited by ChatGPT: find the gap, fix the page, re-check

To get a Webflow site cited by ChatGPT, start from the buying questions where an answer engine names a competitor instead of you, then edit only the pages those questions point to. Linkeddit lists the gaps and the sources the engines cited. Claude reads them and edits the pages and CMS items through the Webflow connector. Then you measure the same questions again.

The prompt

Paste into Claude

Use the Linkeddit connector and the Webflow connector. 1) With Linkeddit, list my open Answer Radar gaps, then pull the content view that scores my tracked pages against those buying questions and names the requirements the engines agreed on that each page misses. 2) For the top three gaps, fetch the pages the engines cited with answer_sources_fetch and tell me what they state that my page does not. 3) With Webflow, read the matching pages and CMS items with data_pages_tool and data_cms_tool, and propose edits for at most three of them: an answer in the first two sentences, the specific facts the cited pages contain, and a question-shaped heading. Show each change as before and after, and do not write anything until I approve it. 4) After I approve and publish, list the questions to re-run in Linkeddit.

Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Connect both connectors to Claude

Add the Webflow connector and the Linkeddit connector (https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp) in Claude or Claude Code. In Webflow's Configure screen, choose to require approval before changes, so Claude cannot write to the site unasked.

  2. Step 2

Pull the gaps and the page scores

Ask Claude to call answer_gaps_get for your project. It returns the questions where an engine recommended somebody else or nobody. The content view scores each tracked page against each measured question and names the requirements the engines agreed on that the page lacks.

  3. Step 3

    Read what the engines cited

For the top gaps, have Claude call answer_sources_fetch on the cited URLs. The extracted text shows what the winning pages state plainly, which is what your page has to match with its own facts, not a copy of their wording.

  4. Step 4

Edit the Webflow pages one at a time

Claude reads each page and CMS item through the Webflow connector and shows a before and after. Approve the edits you want, in a small batch. Webflow's help page says changes go live when you next publish your site, so you decide when.

  5. Step 5

    Re-measure the same questions

Once the edits are published and have had time to be crawled, run the same buying questions again in Linkeddit and compare presence and recommendation rates. Judge the change over repeated runs, not one answer.

What Linkeddit returned

Run live on 2026-10-29 with answer_gaps_get. Read-only run on Linkeddit's own test project (an analytics site, not a Webflow site). It shows the content view Claude would work from: each tracked page scored against the questions the engines were asked.

Why is my Webflow site not cited by ChatGPT?

Webflow's own AEO guidance says answer engine optimization means helping AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini find, understand and cite your content. A page can fail at any of those three steps. It may be unreadable to a crawler, it may be clear but never answer the question the engine was asked, or it may answer it with less proof than a competitor's page.

Agency guides on this topic start with the technical layer: a robots.txt that allows AI crawlers, complete schema, a logical heading order and descriptive alt text. Webflow generates sitemaps automatically, so the platform covers part of it. The rest is the content gap, and a checklist cannot show you that gap. It shows only what your pages are missing against a list, not against the answers engines actually gave.

What do the ranking Webflow AEO guides miss?

The guides that rank for this query agree on the same advice: answer first, question-shaped headings, FAQ schema, internal links and visible authority signals. One of them cites Webflow's own team reporting a 42% average traffic lift and 330 new citations from content refreshes. That tells you refreshing works. It does not tell you which of your pages to refresh first.

None of the guides shows which buying questions in your category currently name a competitor. That is the input that decides the first edit. Linkeddit's answer_gaps_get returns those questions ranked by intent, evidence and confidence, and its content view scores each tracked page against each measured question. On the test project it counted 40 requirements for one question and showed a page covering 8 of them.

The content view reports what is missing and writes no advice. Claude and you decide what to change, which keeps the edit grounded in your real facts rather than in phrases lifted from a rival's page.

What does Webflow's own AEO feature cover, and where does this fit?

Webflow's help page describes Webflow AEO as analytics plus agents. The analytics measure how your organization shows up in AI answers and which AI bots visit your site. The agents scan your site and recommend improvements to metadata, schema, alt text and broken links, and nothing changes until you accept a recommendation. It needs a Team or Enterprise Platform plan with the Workspace AI toggle on, and the analytics side also needs the Analyze add-on.

That is a measurement and technical fix inside Webflow. This workflow answers a different question: where do five engines recommend a competitor instead of you, and which sources did they cite. If you already pay for Webflow AEO, use both. If you do not, the Webflow connector in Claude is available without it.

How do I keep Claude from damaging my Webflow site?

Viewers of a popular Claude and Webflow tutorial on YouTube raise the same worries. One asked how to roll back if Claude messes up. Another feared a change landing on a page they did not know about. The controls are real but you have to use them. Webflow's connector post says you can require approval before changes, and the developer docs say the connector enforces your Webflow roles and records agent changes in the site's activity log.

Keep the batch to a few pages, read every before and after, and edit the pages the gap data points to rather than the whole site. The connector also has limits: each authorization covers one workspace, and some capabilities need the Designer open with the Bridge App connected.

How do I know a Webflow edit worked?

Run the same questions before and after, and compare presence rate and recommendation rate in answer_results_get. One answer proves nothing, because engines vary between samples. Linkeddit says in every result that it measures through official provider APIs with grounded web search and that this is a controlled proxy, not an exact copy of what a ChatGPT user sees.

Allow time for the pages to be republished and recrawled before you judge. If a question still names a competitor, read the cited sources again: the missing piece may be a third-party mention, not your page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my Webflow site cited by ChatGPT?+

Make the site readable to AI crawlers, then write pages that answer the buying question in the first two sentences, with specific facts and question-shaped headings. Webflow's help page frames this as helping AI tools find, understand and cite your content. Linkeddit shows which questions to fix first by listing where engines name a competitor.

What is the best tool to find where ChatGPT recommends a competitor instead of my Webflow site?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month. Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews your buying questions and lists the ones where a competitor is named instead of you, with the sources cited. Its content view scores your pages against those questions. Connect it to Claude beside the Webflow connector to act on the list.

Does Webflow have a built-in AEO feature?+

Yes. Webflow's help page describes Webflow AEO as AEO analytics plus AEO agents that recommend fixes to metadata, schema, alt text and broken links. It requires a Team or Enterprise Platform plan with the Workspace AI toggle enabled, and the analytics also need the Analyze add-on. Check Webflow's page for current requirements.

Can Claude edit my Webflow pages?+

Yes. Webflow's connector lets Claude create and edit pages and update CMS collections, and you can set it to ask for approval before changes. Its tool list includes data_pages_tool and data_cms_tool. Read each before and after, since write access changes a live site once published.

Does Linkeddit change my Webflow site?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data: AI answer gaps, cited sources, Google ranks and competitor moves. Any change to pages or CMS items goes through the Webflow connector, which Claude uses only after you approve. Linkeddit then re-checks the same questions so you can see whether the edit moved anything.

Does a Webflow robots.txt or llms.txt file get my site cited?+

Not on its own. Agency guides list AI crawler access and an llms.txt file as part of the technical layer, but they are a precondition, not proof of citation. One guide notes llms.txt adoption is still tiny. Measure whether engines name you on your buying questions, and fix the pages where they name a rival.
