Smartsheet + Linkeddit

Add AI visibility gaps to your Smartsheet SEO sheet with Claude

Smartsheet SEO task management is a sheet with one row per task, an owner, a status and a due date. The Smartsheet connector lets Claude search sheets, add rows and update them. Linkeddit supplies the rows: its action queue lists where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a competitor instead of you or leave you out. Claude checks the sheet for duplicates, adds the new rows after you approve them and comments the evidence.

Connect both

Your AI client sits in the middle. Linkeddit supplies the data; the other connector makes the change.

Linkeddit connector

Add https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp as a connector and sign in. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http linkeddit https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.

Setup guide

Smartsheet connector

  1. Set up the Smartsheet connector in Claude by following Smartsheet's Access Smartsheet in Claude article, then enable it in your chat. Smartsheet lists the plans that can use it as Business and Enterprise.
  2. Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
  3. Make one sheet for SEO work with columns such as Task, Owner, Status, Due date and Source, so Claude has a fixed structure to write into.

The prompt

Paste into Claude

Use the Linkeddit connector and the Smartsheet connector. 1) With Linkeddit, call answer_projects_get and pick my project, then call answer_actions_get with state=open and mode=evidence. 2) With Smartsheet, call search to find my sheet named SEO and AEO tasks, then get_columns to learn its columns and find_in_sheet to look for each Linkeddit card label. 3) List the cards that are not on the sheet yet and ask me to approve the list. 4) After I approve, use add_rows to add one row per card: the card label in Task, the competitor in Source, an owner I name and a Status of Not Started. Do not touch existing rows. 5) Use add_comment on each new row to paste the cited sources. 6) When a row is marked Complete, tell me which Linkeddit card it matches and ask before you call answer_action_update.

Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Connect both connectors to Claude

Set up the Smartsheet connector in Claude and enable it in the chat, then add the Linkeddit connector (https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp). Linkeddit comes with the $60 a month plan. Smartsheet lists Business and Enterprise as the plans that can use its connector.

  2. Step 2

    Read the open action cards

Ask Claude to call answer_actions_get for your project with state open. Each card has a type, a status, a rank, a label and an impact estimate with competitor mentions and citations. Ask for the evidence mode so each card brings its sources.

  3. Step 3

Look for the rows you already have

Claude calls get_columns on the SEO sheet, then find_in_sheet for each card label. A card that already has a row is skipped, so the same gap does not appear twice next week.

  4. Step 4

Approve the list, then add the rows

Claude shows the cards that are missing from the sheet. After you approve, it calls add_rows with the label, the competitor, an owner and a status, then add_comment to attach the cited sources to each new row.

  5. Step 5

    Close the loop

When a row is marked Complete, ask Claude to find the matching Linkeddit card and, with your yes, call answer_action_update to move it to done. Linkeddit then stops listing it as open work.

What Linkeddit returned

Run live on 2026-10-29 with answer_actions_get. Read-only run on Linkeddit's own test project, plausible.io. It shows the cards Claude would turn into rows. Only two cards were open that day, and both came from one question.

What does SEO task management in Smartsheet look like today?

Smartsheet's SEO Checklist template is a sheet that lets you stay on top of optimisation tasks across your pages, see the gaps and act on them, and keep discussions and supporting documents in one place. It is the top Google result for smartsheet seo task management, and independent roundups such as Wrike's guide list Smartsheet among the tools SEO teams use.

Such a sheet tracks work well once the rows exist. It does not create them. Someone types each row from a site audit or a rank tracker. A row about AI answers needs a source that records which engine named which competitor, and that is the data Linkeddit adds.

Technical checklists get reused because the same misses repeat. An SEO consultant on Reddit listed this item: "No noindex tags left on important pages (common after migrations)" A sheet can hold that. The Answer Radar cards add the rows a technical checklist does not produce.

How do Linkeddit and the Smartsheet connector split the work?

The Smartsheet connector is the sheet side. get_connector lists 42 tools, 21 reads and 20 writes, plus one it does not classify. Claude can search, run find_in_sheet, read get_columns, add rows with add_rows, change them with update_rows, and leave notes with add_comment or create_discussion. It has no view of what the answer engines say about your category.

Linkeddit is the evidence side. Answer Radar records which brands the five engines name and recommend for your buying questions and turns the misses into an action queue. Both come with one plan at $60 a month. Linkeddit writes no rows, so Claude decides how each card is worded for your team.

What goes in a row for an AI visibility task?

One Linkeddit card becomes one row. On the test project, the top card says Umami holds the answer for a self-hosted analytics comparison, with 3 competitor mentions, 12 competitor citations and an evidence score of 22. The card beside it says the project is not represented for the same question, with 3 samples where it was absent.

Put the card label in the task column and the competitor in a source column. Put the cited sources in a comment on the row, which add_comment supports, so the writer sees what the engine relied on. Search Console refreshes fit the same sheet: if Search Console is connected to Linkeddit, queries at positions 11 to 20 can become rows too.

Will Claude change rows I already have?

Only if you let it. Smartsheet's own help article says its examples assume you have allowed Claude to read and write data in Smartsheet, which means write access is a choice you make. The prompt above never touches existing rows, and it asks for approval before adding any.

Be stricter with delete tools. The connector lists delete_rows and delete_column as well as add_rows. Claude only needs add_rows, add_comment and, at the end, update_rows. Say in the prompt that it must not delete anything, and review the new rows in the sheet before you share it with the team.

How do I keep the sheet and Linkeddit in sync?

Match by label and move the card when the row is done. Linkeddit has five card states: suggested, todo, in progress, done and dismissed. When a row is marked Complete, ask Claude to update the matching card with answer_action_update after you confirm.

Choose between Done and Dismissed with care. A dismissed card keeps suppressing its finding permanently, while a completed one releases it, so the same gap can return later as a new card with new evidence. Use Done for work you finished and Dismissed only for findings you never want to see again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I manage SEO tasks in Smartsheet?+

Use a sheet with a row per task and columns for owner, status, due date and the page involved. Smartsheet's SEO Checklist template is built this way, with a place for discussions and supporting documents. The rows still have to come from an audit or a tracker, because the sheet does not discover work on its own.

What is the best tool to turn AI visibility gaps into Smartsheet rows?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the findings. Its action queue lists where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a competitor or leave you out, with the cited sources on each card. Claude then adds the rows through the Smartsheet connector after you approve the list.

Can Claude add rows to a Smartsheet sheet?+

Yes. The Smartsheet connector lists add_rows, update_rows and add_comment among its 20 write tools. Smartsheet's help article says its examples assume you have allowed Claude to read and write data in Smartsheet, so write access is a setting you choose. The connector is available on Business and Enterprise plans.

How do I connect Smartsheet to Claude?+

Follow Smartsheet's Access Smartsheet in Claude article, then make sure the connector is enabled in your Claude chat. Smartsheet's help page lists the Business and Enterprise plans as eligible. After that, add Linkeddit at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp so Claude has both the findings and the sheet.

What is the best way to track answer engine optimization tasks in Smartsheet?+

Use Linkeddit's action queue as the source and a Smartsheet sheet as the tracker. Linkeddit records where the five answer engines recommend a competitor, one card per finding, and Claude adds each card as a row with the competitor and the sources attached. A Complete row then closes its Linkeddit card.

What does a Linkeddit action card contain?+

A type, a status, a rank, a label and an impact estimate. On Linkeddit's test project the top card was a competitor_won card with 3 competitor mentions, 12 competitor citations and an evidence score of 22. Only content_gap and competitor_won cards are generated today, so a short queue does not mean there is nothing to do.

Does Smartsheet have an SEO template?+

Yes. Smartsheet's marketplace lists an SEO Checklist template for tracking optimisation tasks across your pages, seeing the gaps and acting on them, and keeping discussions and documents in one place. It is a good starting sheet, and you can have Claude add Linkeddit's findings to it as new rows.

Does Claude update Smartsheet on its own schedule?+

No. Claude works when you start it, so you run the saved prompt each week or let a scheduler you already use start a Claude session. Linkeddit's side keeps its own clock: the five competitor monitors on the test project are all weekly. A weekly run keeps the sheet current.

Is it safe to let Claude write to my Smartsheet?+

It is as safe as the access you give it. Smartsheet's help article says its examples assume you allowed Claude to read and write. Keep the prompt to adding rows, ask Claude to list the rows first, say it must not delete anything, and review the new rows before anyone else relies on them.

How much does the Linkeddit side cost?+

Linkeddit is one plan at $60 a month, with the connector included. Starting an audit or a verification re-check spends credits, and Linkeddit returns an estimate first so Claude waits for your yes. What Smartsheet costs depends on your Smartsheet plan, which this page does not cover.

Can ChatGPT or other tools do this too?+

This page covers Claude and Claude Code only. Linkeddit measures what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews say about you, but the Smartsheet workflow here is written for those two clients, and Smartsheet lists its connector for Claude. Other clients may differ, and we have not tested them.

How do I know a finished row actually improved my AI visibility?+

Re-measure after the fix is published. Ask Claude to estimate a re-check with answer_verify_start, which spends credits and waits for your yes, then read the outcome with answer_verify_get. It shows whether the engines now name you for the question the row targeted. A completed row alone proves nothing.
