Smartsheet and Linkeddit in Claude: SEO and AI visibility tasks with owners

Smartsheet is where SEO work gets assigned and tracked, but a sheet does not tell you what the work should be. The Smartsheet connector lets Claude search sheets, add rows, update them and comment on them. Linkeddit supplies the evidence: competitor moves, where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you, and the search queries real buyers use. Claude turns each finding into a row and you approve the writes.

What you can do with Smartsheet and Linkeddit

What does the Smartsheet connector do for SEO work?

The Smartsheet connector gives Claude hands on your sheets. get_connector lists 42 tools, 21 reads and 20 writes. Claude can search, find text in a sheet, read column definitions, add and update rows and attach comments. Smartsheet's help article gives prompts such as what is about to slip in the next two weeks, or find rows missing an owner or due date.

It has no source of SEO findings. It knows what is on your sheets, not what ChatGPT says about your category or what a competitor changed on its pricing page. That is why the pairing is useful: Linkeddit finds the work, Smartsheet tracks it, and Claude moves the findings across.

How do I turn AI visibility gaps into Smartsheet rows?

Read Linkeddit's action queue and add each card to a sheet as a row. On the test project, the queue held a competitor_won card with 3 competitor mentions and 12 competitor citations, and a content_gap card for the same question. Each carries a label and the sources behind it, so a row can be written without a meeting. The step by step guide, with the exact prompt, is the page for Smartsheet SEO task management.

Fixing the gap and checking it worked are separate steps. After a writer publishes, Linkeddit can estimate a re-check with answer_verify_start, which spends credits and waits for your yes, and answer_verify_get reports whether the engines now name you. Make that re-check the last row of the task so it closes on evidence.

How do I track competitor moves in Smartsheet?

Use Linkeddit's Compete monitors as the source and a sheet as the queue. On the test project, five monitors run weekly, each with a next run of 2026-11-04, watching blogs, changelogs, pricing and landing pages and review sites. compete_signals_get returned five signals for the week of 2026-10-26, each with a priority, a category, a why it matters line and a source link. All five were low priority, so none needed a row.

Filtering is the point: a sheet filled with every blog post teaches the team to ignore it. Ask Claude to add rows only for medium and high priority signals, with the source link in a column. If your question is who Smartsheet's own competitors are, the results are alternatives and review pages, which compare software and do not track what a competitor in your category just changed.

The risk is a finding with no owner. A competitive intelligence founder on Reddit wrote: "Teams collect screenshots and links, put them into Notion, send a Slack update and move on. Nobody clearly owns the response." A row with an owner column is one answer to the last sentence there.

Can Search Console queries become refresh rows?

Yes, if your project has Search Console connected to Linkeddit. gsc_queries_get has a striking_distance view, queries at an average position of 11 to 20 with real impressions, and a ctr_opportunities view for top five positions that are clicked far less than expected. Each row of output is a page worth refreshing, so each can become a sheet row with the query, the position and the page.

The test project has no Search Console connection, so this guide does not show a run for it. When it is not connected, the tool says so plainly instead of returning an empty list, and Claude should tell you rather than invent queries. Search results for this job mostly point to Google Sheets rather than Smartsheet. A Claude run is the choice when you want to keep the work in Smartsheet and read the rows first.

What should I check before Claude writes to my sheets?

Claude acts as your Smartsheet user, so it reaches only what you can. Smartsheet's help article says its examples assume you have allowed Claude to read and write, and lists Business and Enterprise as the plans that can use the connector. Start with a sheet nobody else depends on, ask Claude to list the rows it intends to add, and only then let it write.

The connector also lists delete_rows, delete_column and delete_comment. Tell Claude in the prompt that it must not delete anything. Claude works only when you start it, so run the saved prompt weekly, the morning after Linkeddit's monitors run, instead of expecting a live feed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use Smartsheet for SEO task management?+

Use a sheet with a row per task and columns for owner, status, due date and page. Smartsheet's SEO Checklist template follows this shape, with a place for discussions and supporting documents. The rows still need a source such as an audit, a tracker or an evidence tool, because a sheet does not find work.

What is the best tool to feed SEO and AI visibility tasks into Smartsheet?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month. It records where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a competitor instead of you, tracks competitor moves with a priority on each, and reads your Search Console queries. Claude then adds the Smartsheet rows through the Smartsheet connector, after you approve the list.

What is the best way to track competitor moves in Smartsheet?+

Use Linkeddit's Compete monitors for the data and a Smartsheet sheet for the queue. Linkeddit watches competitor blogs, changelogs and pricing pages weekly and grades each signal by priority. Claude adds a row for each medium or high priority signal, with the source link, so low priority noise never reaches the sheet.

Can Claude add and update rows in Smartsheet?+

Yes. The Smartsheet connector lists add_rows, update_rows and add_comment among its 20 write tools. Smartsheet's help article says its examples assume you allowed Claude to read and write, so write access is your choice. It lists Business and Enterprise as the plans that can use the connector.

How do I connect Smartsheet to Claude?+

Follow Smartsheet's Access Smartsheet in Claude article, then enable the Smartsheet connector in your Claude chat. Smartsheet lists Business and Enterprise plans as eligible. Then add Linkeddit at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. Both work in Claude and Claude Code, and the Linkeddit connector comes with the $60 a month plan.

Who are Smartsheet's main competitors for SEO project management?+

Wrike's SEO project management guide lists ClickUp, Trello and Asana beside Smartsheet as tools SEO teams use, with Wrike as its own pick. Which fits depends on your team. All of them track tasks and none measures what answer engines say about your brand, which is the part Linkeddit adds.

Does Smartsheet have its own AI visibility tracking?+

Smartsheet's SEO material covers task tracking, templates and dashboards. It does not describe a measurement of what answer engines say about your brand. That measurement is what Linkeddit adds: five engines asked your buying questions, with the brands each one named and the sources it cited.

Does Google Search Console help with SEO tasks?+

Yes, it supplies the queries and pages that tell you what to work on, such as queries stuck at positions 11 to 20. It is not a task manager. Connect Search Console to Linkeddit and Claude can read those queries and add refresh rows to your Smartsheet sheet after you review them.

Does Claude update Smartsheet on a schedule?+

No. Claude works when you start it, so you run a saved prompt each week or use a scheduler you already have to start a Claude session. Linkeddit's own monitors run on a clock. On the test project all five run weekly, so a run the morning after carries fresh signals.

Is it safe to let Claude write to Smartsheet?+

It is as safe as the access you give it. The connector acts as your Smartsheet user. Start on a low stakes sheet, ask Claude to list the rows before it writes, say it must not delete anything, and review the new rows before the team relies on them.

How much does the Linkeddit side cost?+

Linkeddit is one plan at $60 a month, with the connector included. Starting an audit or a verification re-check spends credits, and Linkeddit returns an estimate first so Claude waits for your yes. What Smartsheet costs depends on your Smartsheet plan, which this page does not cover.

Does this work with ChatGPT?+

These guides cover Claude and Claude Code only. Linkeddit measures what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews say about your brand, but the Smartsheet workflow is written for those two clients. Other clients may differ, and we have not tested them.
