Intercom + Linkeddit
Analyze customer objections in Intercom against competitor reviews
Intercom customer objection analysis means reading your support and sales conversations for the reasons customers hesitate, complain or threaten to leave, then counting them by theme. The Intercom connector lets Claude search and read those conversations. Linkeddit adds what a competitor's customers say in public reviews, so you can tell which objections are common to your market and which belong to you.

Connect both
Your AI client sits in the middle. Linkeddit supplies the data; the other connector makes the change.
Linkeddit connector
Add https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp as a connector and sign in. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http linkeddit https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
Intercom connector
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, find Intercom and enable it. Intercom's docs give https://mcp.intercom.com/mcp for US hosted workspaces and https://mcp.eu.intercom.com/mcp for EU hosted ones. AU hosted workspaces are not yet supported.
- Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. Linkeddit comes with the $60 a month plan, and its competitor monitors need to be set up for the competitors you want to compare against.
- Decide which conversations Claude may read, for example the last 90 days of closed conversations, because the connector can open any conversation your Intercom account can see.
Endpoint: https://mcp.intercom.com/mcp
Works in: Claude, Claude Code.
The prompt
Paste into Claude
Use the Intercom connector and the Linkeddit connector. 1) With Intercom search_conversations or search, find conversations from the last 90 days that mention price, cost, refund, cancel, switch, competitor or missing feature. Open each with get_conversation and read the customer's own words. Do not send or change anything. 2) Group what you find into objection themes such as price, billing, support quality, missing feature, security and switching cost. For each theme give a count, two short quotes with the conversation id, and whether the customer was satisfied by the reply. 3) With Linkeddit, call compete_signals_get with view=reviews and max_rating=2 for each competitor customers named, and group those low-star reviews into the same themes. 4) Show one table: for each theme, how many of my conversations raised it and how many of the competitor's low-star reviews mention it, marked market-wide or only ours. 5) List the two themes where customers raised the objection and got no clear answer. Quote only what the conversations and reviews say, and flag any theme under three mentions as thin evidence.
Step by step
Step 1
Connect Intercom and Linkeddit to Claude
Enable the Intercom connector in Claude under Settings and Connectors, using the US or EU endpoint that matches your workspace, then add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. Intercom's docs say the connection is authenticated, so Claude sees what your own account is allowed to see.
Step 2
Search for conversations that hold objections
Ask Claude to use search_conversations, or the general search tool with object_type:conversations, to find conversations that mention words like price, refund, cancel or switch. Intercom's docs show this query style, for example object_type:conversations source_body:contains:"refund" limit:20. Results are paginated, so ask Claude to keep paging until it has a real sample.
Step 3
Read the full conversations
Have Claude open each hit with get_conversation. Search returns summaries, and a customer's objection is often in the third message, not the first. Ask it to quote the customer, record the conversation id and note whether the reply resolved the worry, so every count can be checked.
Step 4
Pull competitor reviews from Linkeddit
For each competitor named in those conversations, ask Claude to call compete_signals_get with view=reviews and max_rating=2. It returns stored G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot reviews with rating, title, text and date. Check the fetches list: a status of error or no_results means the site did not load or had nothing, not that nobody complained.
Step 5
Compare the themes and choose what to act on
Ask Claude for one table of themes against both sources. A theme in both is a market-wide worry you can answer in your pricing page, onboarding or sales pitch. A theme only in your conversations is yours to fix. This prompt only reads, so nothing is added to Intercom or Linkeddit until you decide to act.
What Linkeddit returned
Run live on 2026-10-29 with compete_signals_get. Read-only run on Linkeddit's own test project, plausible.io, not on a customer's Intercom data. It asked for G2 reviews of Matomo rated two stars or lower. The call returned each review's site, rating, title, text and date, plus the fetch status for that site. The Intercom side was not run.

An objection is a reason a customer hesitates, complains or leaves, said in their own words. In Intercom it sits in support chats, ticket threads and replies to messages. UpdateMate's guide lists the kinds worth looking for: pricing objections, bugs, feature requests, confused users, and churn risk such as customers threatening to cancel, downgrade, pause or switch vendors.
Intercom's own feedback guide adds a warning that applies to counting. It says people are generally motivated to give unsolicited feedback when they have an extreme experience, and that who is speaking affects how much weight to give them. So a count of objections shows what loud customers say. Ask Claude for the split by customer type before you act on a theme.
Advice on objections is often too general. A viewer commenting on a YouTube webinar about handling customer objections (a recording with 1,400+ views) wrote: "more tactical insights are needed overall." Reading real conversations answers that need with your own customers' words, and Linkeddit adds what customers of competitors write in public reviews.
What can Claude read through the Intercom connector?
Claude can search and read conversations and contacts. The Agent Index lists six read tools: search, fetch, get_conversation, get_contact, search_contacts and search_conversations. Intercom's developer docs describe a search tool that takes a query such as object_type:conversations state:open, returns up to 150 items a page with a cursor, and a separate get tool for the full conversation with its parts.
Intercom's docs list 14 tools in total, including article tools and a tool that adds an internal note to a conversation, so the connector is not strictly read-only on every workspace. The prompt on this page names only reads. Intercom also says the MCP server supports US and EU hosted workspaces and not AU ones, which is the first thing to check if the connection fails.
Why add competitor reviews to Intercom conversation analysis?
Because your conversations only contain customers who already chose you. Linkeddit's compete_signals_get with view=reviews returns stored reviews from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot, each with site, star rating, title, text and date, and it can filter to max_rating so Claude reads only the complaints. That shows what people who use a rival say publicly, and whether your customers' worries match.
On Linkeddit's test project the run returned two-star G2 reviews of Matomo with themes such as a user experience that could be more polished and no clear benefit over Google Analytics. The same fetch list showed several Capterra and G2 lookups as no_results and some Trustpilot lookups as errors. Claude should report which sites loaded before it compares anything.
How is this different from Intercom's own insights?
Intercom's AI insights look inward. Its help article says Topics Explorer groups conversations into topics and subtopics, Trends scans topics for the biggest weekly shifts, and CX Score rates every conversation with an AI explanation. It also says CX Score, Recommendations, Topics Explorer, Trends, Monitors and Custom Scorecards need the Pro add-on.
Those tools tell you what is driving your own volume. They do not tell you what a competitor's customers say outside your product. Claude with both connectors can do the outside comparison, and Claude Academy's feedback guide shows the same Claude workflow on Intercom conversations, NPS responses and interview notes. The competitor-review comparison is our own angle and has not been tested on a real Intercom workspace.
What should I check before trusting the result?
Check the sample, the quotes and the data you are letting Claude read. Claude Academy's guide warns of echo chamber effects: power users leave more feedback, and enterprise customers have account managers who channel complaints. Ask Claude for the breakdown by customer segment, and treat any theme with fewer than three mentions as a question, not a finding.
Then check access. Intercom conversations contain customer personal data, and the connector acts with your account's permissions. Limit the prompt to the date range and topics you need. Linkeddit never receives your conversations. Claude reads them through the Intercom connector in your own session, and Linkeddit only returns competitor signals and stored public reviews.
Frequently asked questions
How do I analyze customer objections in Intercom?+
Search your conversations for words like price, refund, cancel and switch, read the full threads, then group what customers said into themes with counts and quotes. Intercom's AI insights can group topics inside Intercom. Claude with the Intercom connector can do the same across a date range you choose.
Can Claude analyze my Intercom conversations?+
Yes. The Intercom connector lets Claude search conversations and contacts and open a full conversation. You enable it in Claude under Settings and Connectors. Intercom's docs say it supports US and EU hosted workspaces and not AU ones, and that Claude sees what your own account can see.
What is the best tool for customer objection analysis against competitor reviews?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the competitor side. Its compete_signals_get tool returns stored G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot reviews with star rating and text, filterable to low ratings. Claude then lines them up against objections from your Intercom conversations, so you see which worries your customers share with a rival's.
Does Intercom have built-in conversation analysis?+
Yes. Intercom's help article describes Topics Explorer, Trends, CX Score, Recommendations, Monitors and Custom Scorecards, and says these need the Pro add-on. They analyze your own conversations. They do not include what a competitor's customers say in public reviews, which is what Linkeddit adds through Claude.
What is the best way to find out why customers cancel?+
Read the cancellation conversations in full and group the reasons. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, adds the market view: stored low-star reviews of your competitors from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot, so Claude can show whether the same complaints appear there. Intercom supplies the conversations through its connector.
Does Linkeddit read my Intercom conversations?+
No. Linkeddit never receives your conversations or contacts. Claude reads them through the Intercom connector in your own session, and Linkeddit only supplies competitor signals and stored public reviews. The two datasets meet inside your Claude conversation and nowhere else.
Which Intercom tools does Claude use for this?+
The Agent Index lists six read tools for the connector: search, fetch, get_conversation, get_contact, search_contacts and search_conversations. This page uses search_conversations or search to find conversations and get_conversation to read them. Intercom's docs list further tools, including article tools and one that adds an internal note.
Can Claude change my Intercom data during the analysis?+
The prompt on this page only reads. Intercom's docs list tools that create or update help articles and add an internal note to a conversation, so the connector can write on some workspaces. Tell Claude not to send or change anything, and check the permissions you grant when you connect.
How many conversations do I need for a reliable pattern?+
There is no fixed number, but the prompt marks any theme with fewer than three mentions as thin evidence. Claude Academy's guide shows a 90 day pull across Intercom conversations, NPS responses and interview notes, with a theme tab so you can audit how each item was tagged. A small sample gives questions, not conclusions.
Which competitor reviews does Linkeddit store?+
Reviews from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot for the competitors you monitor, each with site, star rating, title, text, author, date and link. You can filter by competitor, site or maximum rating. A fetch with status error or no_results means the site did not load or had nothing, not that the product has no complaints.
Which clients work with the Intercom and Linkeddit connectors?+
This page is written for Claude and Claude Code, where both connectors can be added to one conversation. Intercom's own listing is for Claude, and the workflow here has only been written for Claude, so do not assume the same prompt carries over unchanged to other assistants.
