Jira and Linkeddit in Claude: SEO tickets and AI visibility gaps

SEO work in Jira has two halves: deciding what the work is, and tracking it. The Atlassian connector covers the second. It lets Claude search, create, edit and transition Jira issues and read or write Confluence pages, under your own Atlassian permissions. Linkeddit covers the first: ranked actions for buying questions where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you, plus competitor moves and your Search Console queries.

What you can do with Atlassian (Jira and Confluence) and Linkeddit

What does the Atlassian connector do?

The Atlassian MCP server is Atlassian's connector for AI assistants. Its Agent Index listing shows 21 tools: 11 reads, 6 writes, 3 admin and 1 unclassified. Claude can search Jira with JQL, read and create issues, edit and transition them, comment, and read or write Confluence pages. It has no view of what AI engines say about your category.

Atlassian says every action runs with your existing permissions, and that read, write and delete operations are controlled in your admin's Rovo MCP server settings. Its supported-tools page adds that the Jira delete tools and the project-administration tools are off by default. Every tool call is recorded in your organization's audit log.

What does Linkeddit add that Jira does not have?

Evidence for the ticket. Linkeddit measures where the five answer engines recommend a competitor or nobody for the buying questions you track, ranks the resulting actions, and records the counts. On Linkeddit's test project the top card shows a competitor cited 12 times and named 3 times for one question, with the project absent in 3 samples.

Linkeddit also tracks competitor moves with a priority on each, and reads your Search Console queries once you connect it. It writes no advice. Claude reads the data, drafts the tickets, and the Atlassian connector files them. Both come with one plan at $60 a month.

That matters because the usual Jira SEO advice stops at structure. The Atlassian Community answers suggest splitting work into keyword research, on-page fixes, content updates and link building, and none of them say how to find which pages and questions deserve a ticket in AI answers. A measured queue fills that gap, so the board reflects what buyers are asking now.

How do I turn AI visibility gaps into Jira tickets?

Ask Claude to read the open action cards, check Jira for tickets that already exist, draft one ticket per card, and create the issues after you approve. Each ticket names the buying question, the competitor that holds the answer, the counts and a done condition. The step-by-step guide has the exact prompt and a measured read-only run.

The same flow covers refreshing pages from Search Console queries. A query at average position 11 to 20 becomes a refresh ticket for the page that owns it, which is the kind of task Atlassian Community answers describe as an on-page fix or a content update.

Can competitor moves go into Jira automatically?

Claude can file them when you ask, but it does not watch Linkeddit on a timer. Claude acts when it is started, so you run a saved prompt, or a scheduler you already use starts a session. Linkeddit's side does keep time: on the test project all five competitor monitors run weekly, each with a next run of 2026-11-04.

A useful prompt asks Claude to call compete_signals_get for high priority signals from the last week, search Jira for tickets that already cover them, and create one issue per new move. Linkeddit's competitor signals carry a priority, a category, a why-it-matters line and a source link, so each ticket can cite its source. A pricing change is a ticket for the pricing page owner. A launch is a ticket for whoever writes your comparison page.

The risk is a finding with no owner. A competitive intelligence founder on Reddit wrote: "Teams collect screenshots and links, put them into Notion, send a Slack update and move on. Nobody clearly owns the response." A ticket with an assignee is one answer to the last sentence there.

Should Claude write to Confluence or Jira?

Use Jira for work that has an owner and a status, and Confluence for the reference around it. The connector lists createConfluenceContent and updateConfluenceContent beside the Jira write tools, so Claude can keep one living page of open AI visibility gaps and file a ticket for each fix.

Atlassian's own Jira guidance frames the choice the same way: its task tracker page says Jira gives individuals and teams visibility into all tasks, which adds accountability and faster delivery. A Confluence page does not do that, so keep the checklist of gaps in Confluence and the owner and status in Jira.

Read what Claude drafts before it writes. A ticket from a misread card sends someone to fix the wrong page. Ask for drafts first, approve them, and let the connector's audit log record what was created. The page guide shows that flow.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use Jira for SEO task management?+

Break SEO into small issues for keyword research, on-page fixes, content updates and link building, then use labels and sprints to separate urgent from ongoing work. A community answer on Atlassian's forum also suggests sub-tasks with an automation rule that holds the parent open until they are done.

What is the best tool to turn AI visibility gaps into Jira tickets?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the evidence. It records where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor and ranks the resulting actions with counts on each. Connect it and the Atlassian connector to Claude, and Claude drafts one ticket per action for you to approve.

What is the Atlassian MCP connector?+

It is Atlassian's connector that lets an AI assistant search, read and update Jira, Confluence and other Atlassian apps using your existing permissions. Its Agent Index listing shows 21 tools. Admins control which read, write and delete operations are allowed, and calls are recorded in the organization's audit log.

Can Claude create Jira issues and Confluence pages?+

Yes. The connector lists createJiraIssue, editJiraIssue, transitionJiraIssue and addOrEditJiraIssueComment for Jira, and createConfluenceContent and updateConfluenceContent for Confluence. It works under your own permissions. Asking Claude to show drafts before it writes keeps you in control of what lands in your workspace.

What is the best way to track AI search work in Jira?+

Use one label and one ticket per measured gap. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, gives each gap a rank and an evidence score, so each ticket states the question, the competitor holding the answer and a done condition. Claude files the issues through the Atlassian connector and moves the cards as work ships.

Does Linkeddit write the tickets or the pages?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data: ranked actions, competitor moves, cited sources and Search Console queries. Claude writes the ticket text and Confluence content, and the Atlassian connector files them. Linkeddit writes no briefs or advice, so you and Claude decide the wording.

Can Claude delete things in my Jira project?+

Not by default. Atlassian's supported-tools page says the Jira delete tools and the project-administration tools are disabled until an organization admin enables them. The guides on these pages only search, create and update issues, and each call appears in your organization's audit log.

Can Claude send competitor alerts into Jira on a schedule?+

Not by itself. Claude acts when started, so you run a saved prompt each week or use a scheduler you already have. Linkeddit's competitor monitors run weekly on their own, so fresh signals are ready whenever Claude asks. Tools that push alerts into Jira on a timer are a separate product.

How do I stop Claude creating duplicate Jira tickets?+

Put the Linkeddit action id in each ticket description with one label, and have Claude run searchJiraIssuesUsingJql on that label before creating anything. Cards that already have a ticket are skipped, which also catches a gap that returns later as a new card after an earlier one was completed.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Atlassian connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. The prompts and steps have only been written for those two clients, so do not assume they carry over unchanged to other assistants.

Is it safe to let Claude read my Jira and Confluence?+

Claude reaches Atlassian through your own sign-in and sees what that account can see, so use an account whose content you are comfortable sharing and limit the prompt to one space. Linkeddit never receives your Jira or Confluence content; it only supplies competitor and answer data.
