Scrunch AI Review (2026): $250 Core, the Sitecore Deal, and Who It Fits

Scrunch AI is the tool in this category that went furthest past monitoring, into site diagnostics, agent traffic and serving AI crawlers their own version of your site. In June 2026 Sitecore bought it. Most reviews of it predate that and were written by a competitor. This one reads the pricing page as it rendered on the day, the 73 G2 reviews, the acquisition record and the Reddit threads, and says who it is for now.

Key takeaways

  • Verified 4 September 2026 on Scrunch's own page: Core $250 a month for 125 prompts on four engines, a seven-day trial, Enterprise quoted. That is the highest self-serve entry in the category, about two and a half times Profound's Starter.
  • Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, AI Mode and Grok are Enterprise only, and so are the API, MCP, CLI, Looker access and the Agent Experience Platform. Core is a four-engine tracker with audits.
  • Sitecore acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026; Bloomberg put the price at about $225 million. The G2 listing now reads Scrunch AI by Sitecore. Roadmap and pricing under Sitecore are not yet published.
  • G2: 4.6 out of 5 across 73 reviews, 96% four or five stars. Reviewers praise the team, the API and the GA4 referral view. One describes a sales process where pricing confirmed in writing was retracted.
  • AXP serves AI crawlers a parallel version of your site. It is the most ambitious feature in the category and the one to evaluate most carefully, because it is a content-delivery decision, not a tracking one.
  • Scrunch measures, audits and recommends. It does not draft the fix against the cited evidence or re-measure to show the fix moved.
  • In our own answer-engine runs, no Scrunch domain was cited across 220 completed answers. Like every vendor here, it is invisible to the engines it measures.

01What Scrunch AI is, and how it got broader than a tracker

Scrunch AI started as an AI visibility monitor and became a platform. The current product page lists Monitoring and Citations (how your brand shows up in AI answers), Insights (recommendations), Shopping (product-level visibility), AI Search Trends, Site Diagnostics (how AI consumes your site), Agent Traffic (which AI bots visit which pages), and Content Delivery, which is the Agent Experience Platform: a parallel version of your site served to AI agents. That last group is what separates Scrunch from the trackers. Where Profound, Peec and Otterly stop at measuring and recommending, Scrunch also wants to change what the crawler sees.

The company was founded in 2023 and, according to a competing review that cites its funding, raised a $4 million seed and a $15 million Series A from Decibel, Mayfield and Homebrew. We did not verify those rounds at the primary source. What we did verify is what came next.

02The Sitecore acquisition, and why it changes the review

On 3 June 2026 Sitecore announced it had acquired Scrunch. Bloomberg reported the same day, citing people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the details were not public, that the deal was worth about $225 million. Sitecore’s press release describes Scrunch as an AI customer experience platform that helps brands understand and improve how they show up in AI search, and positions it alongside SitecoreAI for managing content. Scrunch’s own site now carries a banner about the next chapter, and G2 lists the product as Scrunch AI by Sitecore.

Three consequences for a buyer. First, every review of Scrunch written before June 2026, which is most of them, describes an independent startup that no longer exists in that form. Second, the roadmap and the pricing under Sitecore are not published yet; the pricing page on 4 September 2026 still shows the two-tier structure Scrunch sold before the deal, and a UK reviewer’s advice to check the roadmap before signing an annual deal is the right caution. Third, the buyer Scrunch fits has probably moved up. Sitecore sells digital experience platforms to enterprises, and AXP, which reshapes what your site serves to agents, is a much more natural fit inside a CMS vendor than inside a $250 self-serve plan.

We fetched scrunch.com/pricing on 4 September 2026 as plain text; scrunchai.com redirects there. The page prints one price and one quote-only tier, plus a full feature matrix. Everything below is from that fetch.

The page’s own FAQ headings promise answers on how pricing is calculated, multiple brands on one plan, what happens when you exceed limits, adding users and annual pricing, but the fetched page did not render the answers, so we cannot quote them. What the matrix makes clear is where the line sits: Core is a monitoring and audit tool on four engines for one brand; everything that makes Scrunch a platform, including every engine beyond the four, sits behind a sales conversation.

04What Scrunch AI does well

The team, by the customers’ account. The first like on the first page of G2: “Great people that care about their customers and constantly improve and listen to feedback. I’ve tested no less than 10 AI search visibility tracking tools, and Scrunch is by far the best group.” Another reviewer who “tested pretty much every AI visibility measurement tool on the market” concluded Scrunch had “both the best price and presents the data in the most intuitive and actionable way”. Whatever else changes under Sitecore, this is the asset the acquirer paid for.

Breadth past monitoring. Site diagnostics, agent traffic analytics, shopping visibility, AI search trends and AXP are a wider surface than any tracker in the category. A G2 reviewer’s summary: “the API returns full response text with citation URLs, and competitor tracking shows position and sentiment, not just presence. GA4 integration for AI referral traffic is better than anything else we evaluated.” The r/DigitalMarketing tester who ran ten tools said Scrunch “leans more into the technical side of AI visibility” and gets “into how AI systems discover and interpret your website”.

Agency fit. Several reviewers run agencies and describe the same loop: audit a prospect before the engagement, show growth over time, re-audit as changes land. One switched from Semrush’s AI tool and said it “made our strategy for our clients instantly better”.

The interface, against Profound. “I really like the easiness of use that Scrunch AI offers compared to other tools in the market like Profound AI. It feels a lot more intuitive and the reports are clearly categorized.” Two of the competing reviews agree.

05Where Scrunch AI falls short

Price, and where the engines sit. $250 a month is the highest self-serve entry in the category, and it buys four engines. Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, AI Mode and Grok are Enterprise only. A G2 reviewer: “certain models are locked behind higher tiers.” The r/DigitalMarketing tester: “If you’re only tracking a few dozen prompts and trying to understand your basic visibility, I don’t think you necessarily need everything Scrunch offers.” Our own runs show Gemini and Claude recommending different brands from ChatGPT more often than not, so on Core you are measuring part of the market at a premium price.

The sales process, in one reviewer’s words. “Terms shifted multiple times during negotiation. Pricing confirmed in writing got retracted, and the contract didn’t match verbal commitments on several points. Took 10 plus days and multiple rounds to finalize.” That is one review out of 73, and it is the one sentence a buyer heading into an Enterprise conversation should read twice, particularly during an ownership change.

API before UI. “They often launch features to their API before it’s available in the dashboard,” one reviewer noted, calling it good and bad. Another reported GA4 integration bugs, the site maps section disconnecting GA4, and needing to re-enable it often.

No MCP for the assistant you use. A reviewer would like to see Scrunch “connecting it with frontier models like Claude Code through model context protocols”. The pricing page marks MCP as unavailable on Core and custom on Enterprise.

Reporting and export gaps. No SVG or PNG export of charts, so agencies screenshot them; more raw mention counts wanted instead of percentages; sentiment analysis that needs an interactive breakdown and more insight into the “other” source category; prompt tags that are hard to remove.

It recommends; it does not draft against the evidence or verify. Insights and Recommendations are on every tier, and one page optimisation a month is on Core. Nothing names the specific cited page that put a competitor in a specific answer, drafts the change against what that page said, and re-runs the prompt to show whether the change moved.

The sales process was frustrating. Terms shifted multiple times during negotiation. Pricing confirmed in writing got retracted, and the contract didn't match verbal commitments on several points.

06What 73 G2 reviewers actually say

On 4 September 2026 Scrunch AI, listed by Sitecore, held 4.6 out of 5 on G2 across 73 reviews: 72% five-star, 24% four-star, 2% three-star, nothing lower. G2 names Profound at 4.5 on 1,128 reviews, Semrush at 4.4 and BrightEdge at 4.4 as the top rated alternatives on the same page. Seventy-three is a solid base for a product this young and this expensive, and the rating is the second highest among the four vendors we have reviewed so far, behind Peec’s 4.8 on 20.

First-page dislikes about reporting, export or prompt management

We read the first page rather than all 73, so the theme counts are a sample. The seven likes cluster around the team and support, the interface against Profound, the API and GA4 integration, agency audit workflows, and continuous updates. The ten dislikes: three about reporting, export or prompt tags, two about engines locked behind tiers, one about the sales process and price, one about GA4 bugs, one about MCP, one about sentiment depth, and two that say nothing much. One reviewer wanted more transparency about the data to pass on to clients. Nobody says a reported mention failed to reproduce.

07What practitioners say on Reddit

Scrunch comes up on Reddit less often than Profound, Peec or Otterly, and when it does it is usually in a list. Three threads had something to say.

Technical, and more than most people need. The r/DigitalMarketing marketer who tested more than ten tools: “Scrunch was interesting because it leans more into the technical side of AI visibility. Rather than just showing you whether you’re being mentioned, it gets more into how AI systems discover and interpret your website, which makes it more useful if technical GEO is part of your strategy. I liked that approach, although it also makes the product feel more complicated.”

The prompt problem is everyone’s problem. A recent r/aeo thread asked what the poster was missing about “profound, otterly, scrunch, etc”, since every one of them reports results “entirely based on the prompts that you feed it”. The best reply: “The engines show you their own fan-out, which is the closest thing to an objective prompt list. Run your category question in ChatGPT with search on and open the ‘searched for’ line. Those sub-queries are what the model decided your question means, and they rarely match the prompts a marketing team writes.” Scrunch’s Core tier marks query fan-out as limited; that is the feature the thread is asking for.

Shortlisted, rarely chosen, by beginners. In an r/aeo thread from a new agency choosing between AthenaHQ and Peec, Scrunch appears in the “also come across” list with Profound, Goodie, Otterly and Rankscale, and does not come up again in the replies. At $250 with a seven-day trial, it is not where a first-time buyer starts, and Scrunch’s pricing page does not pretend otherwise.

08API, MCP and AXP, checked against the page

Scrunch’s data integrations row on the pricing page, read on 4 September 2026: Looker Studio access, query API access, MCP access, CLI access and advanced API access are all unavailable on Core. On Enterprise, Looker, the query API, the CLI and the advanced API are included and MCP is marked custom. So the API a G2 reviewer praises for returning full response text with citation URLs is an Enterprise API, and there is no MCP a Core customer can point Claude or Cursor at. The reviewer asking for MCP connectivity to Claude Code is describing a gap the page confirms.

AXP is the other half of agent readiness, and it points the other way: not your assistant reading Scrunch, but AI crawlers reading you. AXP detects agent traffic at the edge and serves a structured, machine-readable parallel version of your pages to ChatGPT, Perplexity and the rest. Two competing reviews call it Scrunch’s most interesting feature and the one to look at most carefully, and we agree with both halves. Serving crawlers different content than humans is a decision that belongs to whoever owns your site’s search and trust posture, not to whoever owns the visibility dashboard. Inside Sitecore, a CMS vendor, that decision has a natural home. On a Core plan it is not available.

For comparison, every Linkeddit capability, including the fix draft and the re-measurement, is an MCP tool over one URL on the $99 plan; the connector page lists them. Peec and Otterly also ship MCP on self-serve tiers. On this axis Scrunch Core is behind.

09What Scrunch measures, and what no tracker can

Scrunch’s visibility metrics, answer share, position, sentiment and share of citations, are computed over the 125 prompts you track on the four engines Core includes, in one country and two languages. Like every score in this category they are comparable with themselves over time and with no other vendor’s, because prompt sets, engine mixes, sampling and geography differ. A marketer in r/DigitalMarketing who ran the same topics through several platforms got different numbers from each and drew the right conclusion, that none was necessarily wrong. Reviews that rank tools by their scores are ranking prompt sets.

Three things no tracker can see. How many people asked the question: Scrunch’s AI Search Trends covers three topics on Core and does not claim prompt volume. Whether an answer sent a visit: Scrunch is stronger here than most, with a GA4 integration for AI referral traffic and agent traffic analytics, and a referrer is still a floor rather than a measurement. Why the engine chose a source: Scrunch records citations and sources on every tier, and the reason remains a hypothesis. We have written up the same limits for our own product in AI citation tracking.

One test we run on every vendor we review: is the tool’s own domain in the answers about its own category? Across 220 completed answers in our Answer Radar runs, which include prompts about AI visibility tools, no Scrunch domain was cited. Profound and Otterly were cited three times each, Peec zero. None of these numbers says anything about the products; all of them say the engines cite roundups and review sites about vendors, not the vendors.

10Scrunch AI vs Linkeddit Answer Radar

We sell a product in this category, so read this as a vendor’s comparison and check both pricing pages. The short version: Scrunch is the broader platform, now inside Sitecore, with site diagnostics, agent traffic and AXP that we do not have and do not plan to build. Answer Radar is four engines including Claude and Gemini for $99 with MCP on every tool, and it finishes the job Scrunch Core hands back to you, with weekly competitor intelligence included.

Pick Scrunch if your organisation wants monitoring, site diagnostics and agent traffic from one vendor, you are evaluating AXP as a content-delivery decision with the people who own your site, you are already a Sitecore customer or heading that way, and Core’s $250 is a trial budget before an Enterprise contract rather than the plan you intend to live on.

Pick Answer Radar if you need Claude and Gemini without an Enterprise conversation, you want the data reachable from Claude or Cursor over MCP on the plan you can buy today, you want the measurement to end in a drafted fix built from what the engines actually read and a re-measurement that says whether it moved, and you want weekly competitor intelligence on the same $99. The full comparison is at Linkeddit vs Scrunch.

11Verdict: is Scrunch AI worth it?

Yes, for an organisation that wants the widest surface in the category from a team its customers vouch for, and that treats Core as an evaluation before an Enterprise deal. The reviewers who compared it with everything else and chose it are a real signal, the API and GA4 work is better than most, and AXP, handled carefully, is the only feature in this category that changes what engines read rather than reporting on it. Inside Sitecore, that is a coherent product for a large brand.

No, for a small team that arrives at it from a roundup. $250 buys four engines and 125 prompts, the engines your buyers may actually use are behind a sales call, the data does not reach your assistant on that plan, and the product recommends rather than drafting and verifying the fix. The r/DigitalMarketing tester had it right: if you are tracking a few dozen prompts to understand basic visibility, you do not need everything Scrunch offers, and you would be paying for it.

What we could not verify: the seed and Series A figures, which come from a competing review; the acquisition price, which is Bloomberg’s from unnamed sources; annual pricing and overage terms, which the page promises in its FAQ and did not render; and anything about pricing or roadmap under Sitecore. We have said so where each comes up, and we corrected our own earlier pages that said Scrunch published no price.

Four engines including Claude and Gemini, MCP on every tool, the fix drafted and re-measured, for $99

Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude your buyers’ questions, stores every cited page and every fan-out search, ranks the gaps by evidence, drafts the fix from what the engines actually read, and re-measures. 12Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does Scrunch AI cost?+

As read off scrunch.com/pricing on 4 September 2026: Core is $250 a month for 125 unique prompts across four engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot), five site audits a month, one brand workspace, five user licences, one country, two languages, three personas and five competitors, with a seven-day free trial. Enterprise is quoted and adds nine engines including Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, Google AI Mode and Grok, the Agent Experience Platform, API, MCP and CLI access, SAML or OIDC single sign-on and a dedicated account team. The page says annual pricing is offered but does not print it.

Is Scrunch AI worth it?+

For an organisation that wants monitoring, site diagnostics, agent traffic analytics and a way to serve AI crawlers a cleaner version of the site, from one vendor now backed by Sitecore, yes, and Core at $250 is a fair way to evaluate that before an Enterprise conversation. For a team under fifty people that wants to know whether ChatGPT recommends it and what to change, it is the most expensive self-serve entry in the category, Claude and Gemini are Enterprise only, and the product measures and recommends rather than drafting and verifying the fix.

Who owns Scrunch AI?+

Sitecore. Sitecore announced on 3 June 2026 that it had acquired Scrunch, and Bloomberg reported the same day, citing people familiar with the matter, that the deal was worth about $225 million. Scrunch's own site carries a banner about its next chapter, and its G2 listing now reads Scrunch AI by Sitecore. What that means for pricing, roadmap and independence is not yet published, and one reviewer's advice to check the roadmap before signing an annual deal is sound.

What do Scrunch AI's G2 reviews say?+

On 4 September 2026 Scrunch AI held 4.6 out of 5 on G2 across 73 reviews, 72% five-star, 24% four-star and 2% three-star. The praise is about the team and support, the interface compared with Profound, the API returning full response text with citation URLs, the GA4 integration for AI referral traffic, and agencies using audits to win and keep clients. The dislikes are specific: a frustrating sales process where confirmed pricing was retracted, models locked behind higher tiers, GA4 integration bugs, no MCP yet for Claude Code, hard to remove old prompt tags, no SVG or PNG export of charts, and sentiment analysis that needs more depth.

What is the Agent Experience Platform?+

AXP is Scrunch's infrastructure layer for AI crawlers. It detects agent traffic at the edge through providers such as Cloudflare, Akamai or Vercel and serves those agents a parallel, structured, machine-readable version of your pages instead of the human-facing site. It is Enterprise only. It is also the most consequential feature to evaluate carefully, because serving different content to bots than to people is a decision with search and trust implications that goes beyond visibility tracking, and the competing reviews that praise it say the same.

Does Scrunch AI have an MCP server or API?+

Not on Core. The pricing page on 4 September 2026 marks Looker Studio access, query API access, MCP access, CLI access and advanced API access as unavailable on Core; on Enterprise the API, CLI and Looker are included and MCP is marked custom. A G2 reviewer listed connecting to frontier models like Claude Code through MCP as something they would like to see, which matches the page. If your team works inside an assistant, Scrunch's data does not reach it on the self-serve plan.

What is the best alternative to Scrunch AI?+

If the constraint is engines, Linkeddit Answer Radar is $99 a month for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude with MCP included for every tool, and it ends in a drafted, evidence-backed fix and a re-measurement plus weekly competitor intelligence. If the constraint is a lower entry price with more prompts, Peec AI is $80 a month annual for 50 prompts on three models and Otterly is $29 for 15 on four. If you want an enterprise platform with Prompt Volumes and a larger review base, Profound. All the comparisons are linked at the end of this review.
