. AlsoAsked Alternatives: 6 People Also Ask Tools Compared (2026). Linkeddit. 2026-10-29. https://linkeddit.com/blog/alsoasked-alternatives

Verification. Every price here was read on the vendor's own pricing page on 29 October 2026: AlsoAsked, AnswerThePublic, KeywordsPeopleUse and AnswerSocrates. Which features each paid tier includes differs between sources, so we only state features the vendor shows for every plan. The AI assistant results come from Linkeddit asking ChatGPT and Google AI Mode the same questions on the same day.

Key takeaways

  • AlsoAsked costs $15, $29 or $59 a month for 100, 300 or 1,000 searches, with 20% off yearly and 3 free searches without an account.
  • Free alternatives: Linkeddit's People Also Ask tool, AnswerSocrates (3 free searches a day) and SE Ranking's free PAA tool.
  • Paid alternatives: KeywordsPeopleUse from $15 a month with Reddit and Quora questions, AnswerThePublic from $10 a month billed yearly with search volume.
  • Asked for AlsoAsked alternatives, ChatGPT and Google AI Mode both named AnswerThePublic, KeywordsPeopleUse and AnswerSocrates.
  • In 648 Google results pages we read, 31% carried an AI Overview. Only one PAA tool reports which questions get one.

1Quick verdict

Pick by the job, not the feature list. If you research a handful of topics a month, a free tool is enough. If you map trees every week or need an API, pay for a specialist.

2What AlsoAsked does well

AlsoAsked reads Google's People Also Ask box live and draws it as a tree: the questions for your keyword, then the questions each of those opens. That structure is its real advantage. It shows which questions sit together, which is how you decide what goes in one article and what deserves its own page.

Its homepage lists the rest: city-level targeting in every language Google supports, bulk upload, an asynchronous API with webhooks, PNG and data exports, and a deep search that returns about 150 questions per query on average. It now leads with AI visibility too, and its help centre documents an MCP server so Claude and ChatGPT can run searches on a paid account. It reported 115,262 registered users on 29 October 2026.

People go looking for alternatives for three reasons: the credits run out, there is no search volume, and there is nothing on whether Google now answers the question itself with an AI Overview.

3AlsoAsked pricing

PlanMonthlySearches a monthYearly (20% off)
Without an account$03-
Basic$15100$12 a month
Lite$29300$23 a month
Pro$591,000$47 a month

Prices are before tax, from AlsoAsked's pricing page on 29 October 2026. Every plan lists unlimited users and all regions and languages. Yearly figures are the monthly price less the 20% the page advertises, rounded down to the dollar, which matches what ChatGPT and Google AI Mode quoted when we asked them the same day.

4The 6 alternatives, by job

1. Linkeddit People Also Ask tool: free, with AI Overviews

We make this one, so weigh that. The People Also Ask tool has two layers. The question finder reads Google autocomplete for twelve question words and three comparison words and needs no account. With a free account, the same search reads Google's results page live: the People Also Ask box, the questions each one opens, the related searches, and for each question whether Google shows an AI Overview and which sites it cites. Seven countries, CSV export of both layers.

Limits: the live tree goes two levels deep and follows the first four questions, about 20 questions a tree, against AlsoAsked's deep search. You get five new live trees a month; repeats within 24 hours come from cache and do not count. There is no bulk upload on the free tool.

2. AnswerThePublic: autocomplete questions with volume

AnswerThePublic, owned by NP Digital, groups Google autocomplete into questions, prepositions and comparisons. Paid plans add search volume and cost per click, which AlsoAsked does not have. Starter is $10 a month billed yearly for 100 searches and one user; Growth is $49.50 for 200 searches and three users; Business is $99.50 for 300 searches and ten users. It now also sells AI prompt suggestions and an AI article writer.

3. KeywordsPeopleUse: PAA plus Reddit and Quora

KeywordsPeopleUse is the closest like-for-like replacement. It reads People Also Ask and Google autocomplete, adds questions from Reddit and Quora, and clusters keywords. Lite is $15 a month for 150 credits, Standard $39 for 500, Pro $79 for 1,500 and Unlimited $299, all with unlimited users. It offers CSV export, deep and bulk search and API access, and publishes an MCP server; check its pricing page for which plan includes each. The 7-day trial needs a card.

4. AnswerSocrates: the most generous free tier

AnswerSocrates gives 3 free searches a day with no card and 500 cluster credits a month on a free account. It covers Google and YouTube questions, prepositions and comparisons, scores keywords by funnel stage, and offers an MCP connector with 3 data calls a month on every plan.

5. SE Ranking free People Also Ask tool

A free tool on SE Ranking's site that lists People Also Ask questions for a keyword with CSV export. It is a front door to the SE Ranking suite, which has a 14-day trial with no card. Good for a quick list if you already use the suite.

6. Semrush and Ahrefs: if you already pay for a suite

Both full SEO suites filter their keyword databases down to questions, with volume and difficulty attached. Neither draws the People Also Ask tree. They are worth it only if you use the rest of the suite; nobody should buy one for questions alone.

5AlsoAsked vs AnswerThePublic

The two are complements more than rivals, which is why Linkeddit's tool runs both sources from one search box: autocomplete for breadth, the live box for structure.

6What AI assistants recommend

On 29 October 2026 we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Mode "What are the best alternatives to AlsoAsked?" and "What is the best People Also Ask tool?". These are the tools each answer named. One run per engine, and answers vary between runs, so read this as a snapshot.

Across 26 questions about People Also Ask tools, AlsoAsked was named in 59% of answers and AnswerThePublic in 43%. Both engines also quoted AlsoAsked's current prices correctly.

7The column most PAA tools leave out

A People Also Ask question used to be a chance at a click. On a growing share of searches Google now answers above the box with an AI Overview. We read 648 Google US results pages for SEO, AI search and software keywords on 29 October 2026:

51%
had a People Also Ask box
31%
had an AI Overview
18%
had both on one page

When the box appeared it showed exactly four questions on 316 of 332 pages. These shares describe that sample, not all of Google. The practical point holds anyway: before you write a section for a question, check whether an AI Overview already answers it and which sites it cites. If it cites weak sources, a clear answer on your page can replace one. If it cites the category leaders, that question will send few clicks.

To do this every week for the keywords you track, Linkeddit Search builds People Also Ask maps and records the AI Overview on every check, and Answer Radar shows whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI answers name you or a competitor. Both are on the one Compete plan at $60 a month.

8Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to AlsoAsked?+

Linkeddit's People Also Ask tool is the best free alternative if you also care about AI search: its question finder needs no account, and with a free account it shows the live People Also Ask tree plus whether each question gets a Google AI Overview and which sites it cites. AnswerSocrates is the best free option for volume, with 3 free searches a day and no card.

What are the best alternatives to AlsoAsked?+

For a free tool, Linkeddit's People Also Ask tool, AnswerSocrates and SE Ranking's free People Also Ask tool. For a paid PAA specialist with more data sources, KeywordsPeopleUse from $15 a month. For autocomplete questions with search volume, AnswerThePublic from $10 a month billed yearly. Prices checked on each vendor's pricing page on 29 October 2026.

How much does AlsoAsked cost?+

On 29 October 2026 AlsoAsked's pricing page listed three plans: Basic at $15 a month for 100 searches, Lite at $29 for 300 and Pro at $59 for 1,000, plus tax, with 20% off when paid yearly. Visitors without an account get 3 free searches.

Is AlsoAsked worth paying for?+

Yes, if you map People Also Ask trees every week: deep search returns about 150 questions per query by AlsoAsked's own figure, and bulk search, API access and city-level targeting are hard to replace. If you research a few topics a month, a free tool covers it. AlsoAsked also gives no search volume and no AI Overview data.

AlsoAsked vs AnswerThePublic: which is better?+

They answer different questions. AlsoAsked reads the People Also Ask box and shows how questions branch from each other, which is better for planning one page's sections. AnswerThePublic groups Google autocomplete by question word and adds search volume and cost per click on paid plans, which is better for picking topics. Starter plans are $15 and $10 a month respectively.

Which People Also Ask tool has an API or an MCP server?+

AlsoAsked sells an API and an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT on its paid plans. KeywordsPeopleUse lists API access and an MCP server. AnswerSocrates has an MCP connector that includes 3 data calls a month on every plan. Linkeddit's MCP connector returns People Also Ask questions and AI Overview sources through keyword_serp on the Compete plan at $60 a month.

Does AlsoAsked show search volume?+

No. AlsoAsked shows the questions and how they branch, not how often each is searched. AnswerThePublic and KeywordsPeopleUse add volume data on paid plans. Keep in mind that most People Also Ask questions are long-tail, so a volume tool will often report zero for questions real people do ask.

Why do People Also Ask tools give different questions for the same keyword?+

Because the box changes by country, city and language, and over time. Each tool also reads a different source: AlsoAsked and Linkeddit read Google's People Also Ask box, AnswerThePublic and Linkeddit's free question finder read Google autocomplete, and KeywordsPeopleUse adds Reddit and Quora. Compare tools on the same keyword in the same country before deciding.
