Snowflake and Linkeddit in Claude: keep weekly rank and AI answer data in a warehouse

Tracking ranks in Snowflake works when the warehouse and the data source are separate jobs. Snowflake's connector lets Claude retrieve data from your account through Cortex Agents and Cortex Search, and it is read only. Linkeddit supplies what a warehouse cannot measure: weekly Google ranks and AI Overview citations, competitor moves, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you. Claude writes the table, you load it, then Claude queries it.

Setup guide

Snowflake connector

  1. Ask a Snowflake administrator for a Snowflake-managed MCP server. Snowflake's doc lists CREATE MCP SERVER to create one and USAGE to connect.
  2. Connect it in Claude with Snowflake OAuth, the default, using the URL built from your account identifier.
  3. Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.

What you can do with Snowflake and Linkeddit

What does the Snowflake connector do, and what does Linkeddit add?

The Snowflake connector is a partner-verified, read-only connector with two tools in the Agent Index, Cortex Agents and Cortex Search. Snowflake's doc says its managed MCP server can serve Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search and Cortex Agents as tools, plus custom tools and SQL execution, with role-based access control. It answers questions about data already in your account. It does not collect data about Google or the answer engines.

Linkeddit supplies that data in one plan at $60 a month. Compete tracks competitor moves with a priority on each, Answer Radar records which brands the five engines name, and the search tools return Google ranks and Search Console queries. Linkeddit writes no advice. Claude reads it and decides what belongs in the table.

How do I track SEO rankings in a Snowflake table?

Use one row per keyword per check date. Linkeddit's search_visibility_get returns each tracked keyword's rank, the change since the last check, the ranking URL, whether Google showed an AI Overview, whether it cited you, and the top domain. Claude turns those fields into a CREATE TABLE and an INSERT that skips pairs already stored.

The Snowflake SEO rank tracking guide has the exact prompt and a measured run: on the test project, 25 keywords were tracked and 'cookieless analytics' returned no top 10 rank while an AI Overview cited the project. The connector cannot write by default, so you run the load.

Most teams still do this by hand. A startup founder on Reddit wrote: "What surprises me is that many companies still rely on spreadsheets, saved tabs, screenshots, and occasional alerts for competitor tracking." A table with one row per keyword per check replaces the saved tabs with something you can query.

Can Claude run the SQL load for me?

Only if an administrator allows it. Snowflake's SQL execution tool has a read_only option that defaults to true, which restricts it to SELECT queries. Snowflake also advises against exposing direct SQL on the same server as a Cortex Agent, since the client could bypass the agent's semantic views.

If you want Claude to run an insert, ask for a separate server with a dedicated least-privileged role, and read the statement first. A weekly table of ranks is low risk, but the habit matters, because a mistaken statement against the wrong table is not.

How do I check that a published change moved AI answers?

Compare the same questions before and after. Linkeddit's Answer Radar records which brands each engine named for your buying questions, so the first read is your baseline. After you publish a fix, ask Claude to start a re-check. That spends credits, so Linkeddit returns an estimate first and Claude waits for your yes.

Snowflake's AI observability is a different thing. Its doc describes features for AI workloads in your own account: agent traces, evaluations and credit usage. It does not measure what ChatGPT or Gemini say about your brand. Store the Linkeddit check results in a table and Claude can compare weeks with SQL.

Should I use Supermetrics or LemRank instead?

They solve different halves. Supermetrics loads Google Search Console queries, clicks, impressions and average position into Snowflake on an hourly, daily or weekly schedule, with a delay of 48 to 72 hours after Google processes it. LemRank documents a table model for rank data, and says it has no native Snowflake connector, so you write the loader.

Linkeddit adds the AI Overview and answer engine columns for your own keywords. Many teams will want both: Search Console for clicks, Linkeddit for rank and citation checks, joined on URL and date in Snowflake. Ask Claude to name the date range each source covers before it compares them, so a gap in one table is not read as a change in rankings. Linkeddit's change field is empty until a keyword has two checks, and Claude should say so instead of guessing a trend.

Frequently asked questions

How do I track SEO rankings in Snowflake?+

Load them from a rank source, because Snowflake stores data and does not check Google. Have Claude read Linkeddit's weekly Google ranks and write the CREATE TABLE and INSERT for you to run, or load Search Console with a transfer tool. Keep one row per keyword per check date.

What is the best tool for SEO rank tracking with Snowflake?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the measurement. It checks tracked keywords weekly and records your position, whether Google showed an AI Overview and whether it cited you. Claude turns that into rows for Snowflake, where you can join it to your own revenue and traffic data.

What is the best way to measure AI search visibility next to Snowflake data?+

Use Linkeddit's Answer Radar, at $60 a month on one plan. It records which brands ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name for your buying questions. Store each week's results in a Snowflake table and ask Claude to compare weeks. Snowflake's own observability covers your AI workloads, not public answers.

What does the Snowflake connector for Claude do?+

The Agent Index lists two tools, Cortex Agents and Cortex Search, and classes the connector as read only. Snowflake says its managed MCP server lets AI agents retrieve data from your account, with Snowflake OAuth by default and role-based access control. Claude asks questions of data already in Snowflake.

Can Claude write to my Snowflake tables?+

Not through the default setup. Snowflake's SQL execution tool defaults to read_only true, which allows SELECT queries only. An administrator can change that on a separate, least-privileged server. Otherwise Claude writes the SQL and you run it, which is the approach on these pages.

Does Snowflake have a reporting tool?+

Snowflake reports on whatever you load into it, through SQL, Snowsight and its Cortex tools. It has no built-in Google rank data. For an SEO report, load rank checks from a source, then ask Claude to query the table through the connector.

How much does this cost?+

Linkeddit is one plan at $60 a month, covering the rank checks, competitor data and answer engine data used here. Snowflake costs depend on your account and usage, so check Snowflake's documentation. This page does not quote them.

Why is a Snowflake RANK query not giving me Google positions?+

Snowflake's RANK function numbers values within an ordered group of your own data, starting at 1. It does not look up Google. To store SEO positions, load them from a rank source into a column and query that column. Use null for a keyword outside the top 10.

Can Claude refresh the Snowflake table every week on its own?+

Not by itself. Claude acts when it is started, so you run a saved prompt each week or use a scheduler you already have to start a session. Linkeddit's checks run weekly on their own, so the data is ready when Claude asks.

Which Claude clients work with the Snowflake and Linkeddit connectors?+

The Agent Index lists the Snowflake connector for Claude. These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where both connectors can be added together. Other assistants may behave differently, so do not assume the same steps carry over unchanged.
