Notion competitor analysis with AI: live data in, Notion databases out

Notion competitor analysis with AI works best when Notion holds the workspace and something else supplies the facts. Linkeddit measures competitor moves, where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you, and your Google ranks. Claude reads that data and writes pages and database rows through the Notion connector, after you approve each write.

What you can do with Notion and Linkeddit

How do Notion and Linkeddit split the work?

Notion is where the work is kept. The connector listing shows 13 tools, 6 reads and 7 writes: search, fetch, get-comments, get-users and get-self to read, and create-pages, update-page, create-database, update-database, create-comment, move-pages and duplicate-page to change a workspace. It sees what is in your workspace. It has no view of what a competitor shipped this week or what ChatGPT says about your category.

Linkeddit is where the facts come from. Compete grades competitor moves weekly and stores their reviews. Answer Radar asks the five engines your buying questions and records who is named, recommended and cited. Search records weekly Google ranks and the AI Overview above them. All of it comes with one plan at $60 a month, and Linkeddit writes no analysis.

Claude sits between them. It reads Linkeddit's data, proposes the rows and pages, and writes them to Notion only after you approve.

What does Notion's own AI already do for competitor analysis?

Notion's use case page for a competitor analysis report says Notion Agent can research top competitors, compare pricing and messaging, build a database with cited sources and share it. Its template gallery adds a Competitive Analysis with AI template that generates an analysis framework from your product details, and it recommends updating the analysis quarterly.

That is a strong start for a one-off snapshot. A snapshot does not move when a competitor does. Linkeddit's brief for one week on the test project recorded 19 competitor moves across four competitors, two of them high priority, which is more change than a quarterly review absorbs.

The four guides in this hub each take one job: an AI visibility report, a competitor analysis database, battlecards and an SEO tracker.

How do I turn Answer Radar actions into a Notion task database?

Answer Radar keeps an action queue: what its audits found that is worth doing. Each card has a type (content_gap or competitor_won are the two it generates today), a status of suggested, todo, in_progress, done or dismissed, a rank, a confidence and the evidence behind it. Ask Claude to read the open cards with answer_actions_get, then create one Notion page per card with create-pages in a Tasks database, with the label as the title and the evidence in the page.

On the test project the queue held two cards for one gap, 'Umami vs Matomo for self-hosted analytics': a competitor_won card (Umami holds the answer, status in_progress, 3 competitor mentions and 12 competitor citations) and a content_gap card (not represented, status todo, 3 samples absent). Both carry an intent score of 0.6 and an evidence score of 22. Those become two Notion tasks with the same gap linked.

Linkeddit's queue ships no written brief. The card is a label plus evidence, so Claude writes the task description from the evidence and you edit it. That is the point of the split.

How do task statuses stay in sync between Linkeddit and Notion?

Map Linkeddit's five statuses onto a Notion status property: suggested, todo, in_progress, done and dismissed. When a person moves a task in Notion, ask Claude to read the Notion status with fetch and then tell you which Answer Radar cards it would update with answer_action_update. That tool changes the card in Linkeddit, so Claude should show the change and wait for your approval before it calls it.

Two behaviors matter. A dismissed card keeps suppressing its finding permanently, while a completed one releases it, so the same finding can come back as a new card with new evidence. Do not match old and new cards by id across time. Match them by gap, and let the new card create a new Notion task.

Finseo publishes a similar pattern: tasks exported to Notion as pages with evidence and steps. Linkeddit's version reaches Notion through your own Claude, with no separate integration secret to share a database with.

How should I approach any change Claude makes in Notion?

Start with one database and one week of data. Ask Claude to show every row or edit before it writes, because the Notion connector can create, move and update pages. It acts only on content you can already access, and workspace owners can manage which clients connect under Settings, then Notion MCP. Notion says limiting clients needs the Enterprise plan.

Keep numbers and judgment apart. Put Linkeddit's measured fields in their own properties and your decisions in others. Linkeddit says in each answer result that its measurement is a controlled proxy for the consumer product, so store the sample count beside each rate.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use AI for competitor analysis in Notion?+

Keep a competitor moves database in Notion and let Claude fill it from Linkeddit's weekly brief. Each row carries the competitor, move, priority, why it matters and a source link. Notion Agent can also build a one-off cited report, but a weekly feed keeps the analysis current between requests.

What is the best tool for Notion competitor analysis with AI?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data. Compete grades competitor moves weekly from their blogs, changelogs and watched pages, and stores their reviews. Claude files the results into Notion through the Notion connector. Notion supplies the workspace and templates; Linkeddit supplies what actually changed.

Can Claude connect to Notion?+

Yes. Notion hosts a remote MCP server at mcp.notion.com that clients such as Claude Code connect to with OAuth. The connector lists 13 tools, including search, fetch, create-pages and update-page. It reads and changes only content you can access, so review what you approve.

Can I turn Answer Radar actions into Notion tasks?+

Yes. Claude reads the action queue with answer_actions_get and creates one Notion task per card with the connector's create-pages tool, carrying the label and evidence. When you finish a task, Claude can mark the card with answer_action_update after you approve. Linkeddit writes no brief, so Claude drafts the task text.

Does Linkeddit change my Notion workspace?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data and writes nothing to Notion. Changes go through the Notion connector, and Claude proposes each one for your approval. Linkeddit's own write is answer_action_update, which moves a card in Answer Radar, and that also waits for your approval.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Notion connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. Notion's connector works with other clients too, but the workflows on these pages have only been written for Claude, so do not assume they carry over unchanged.
