Mixpanel MCP with Claude, plus the AI visibility data Mixpanel cannot see

The Mixpanel MCP server lets Claude query your events, funnels, retention and session replays in plain language, and it can also change dashboards, Lexicon metadata, cohorts, experiments and feature flags. What it cannot tell you is why organic or AI referred visits moved: where you rank on Google, whether Google's AI Overview cites you, and whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you. Linkeddit supplies that side, so Claude can put behavior and visibility in one answer.

Connect both

Linkeddit connector

Add https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp as a connector and sign in. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http linkeddit https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.

Setup guide

Mixpanel connector

  1. Ask a Mixpanel organization admin to enable MCP first. Mixpanel's documentation says an org admin must switch it on before anyone can connect, and that changes can take up to 15 minutes to take effect.
  2. Add the Mixpanel connector in Claude from the connector directory and finish the Mixpanel sign-in. For the EU or India data region, add a custom connector with https://mcp-eu.mixpanel.com/mcp or https://mcp-in.mixpanel.com/mcp instead. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http mixpanel https://mcp.mixpanel.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.
  3. Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
  4. Name the Mixpanel project and the report or dashboard that holds organic and AI referred visits, so Claude reads that one and does not guess.

What does the Mixpanel MCP server let Claude do?

Mixpanel's documentation describes a server that gives an AI assistant live access to your Mixpanel data, so you can query events, funnels, flows, retention and session replays in natural language. It is not read only: the assistant can also manage dashboards, Lexicon metadata, cohorts, lookup tables, metrics, experiments and feature flags, and Mixpanel records every change in its audit log.

The Agent Index listing for the Mixpanel connector shows 20 tools: 12 reads, 6 writes, 1 admin and 1 it does not classify. Reads include Get-Projects, Get-Events, Get-Property-Values, Get-Query-Schema, Run-Query, Get-Report and Get-Dashboard. Writes include Create-Dashboard, Edit-Event, Edit-Property and Create-Tag. Mixpanel's own page lists more tools than the directory does, so confirm what your connector shows before relying on one.

A viewer under a Mixpanel MCP walkthrough video put the appeal in one line: "Claude Code + Mixpanel MCP is such a lethal combo." The combination is strong for questions about behavior. It is silent about anything that happens before the visit.

What can Mixpanel not tell Claude about AI and search traffic?

Mixpanel records what visitors do once they are in your product or on your site. It does not record where you rank for a buying keyword, whether Google's AI Overview names you, or which brands the AI engines recommend when a buyer asks. A drop in sessions can come from any of those, and a Mixpanel chart alone gives Claude no way to tell which.

That is the gap Linkeddit fills, at one plan of $60 a month. Its search_visibility_get tool returns, for each tracked keyword, your best Google position, whether an AI Overview showed and whether it listed your domain. Its answer tools record which brands each of the five engines named. Linkeddit supplies the data and writes no advice, so Claude does the joining and the writing.

How do the Mixpanel connector and Linkeddit split the work?

Mixpanel is the behavior side: events, funnels, retention and the dashboards your team already trusts. Linkeddit is the visibility side: ranks, AI Overview citations, and what the answer engines say about your category. Claude sits between them, reads both, and reports where they agree or disagree.

Keep the roles separate when you prompt. Ask Claude to read from Mixpanel and Linkeddit and to change nothing. Mixpanel's server can edit event definitions and dashboards, so a prompt that only needs a report should say so. Mixpanel also notes a limit of 600 MCP requests per hour per user, so ask for one focused query rather than a sweep of every event.

What does a Google rank and AI Overview report look like?

On Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io, search_visibility_get returned 25 tracked keywords, 12 of them checked on 2026-10-28. Five of those 12 ranked in the top 10: google analytics alternative at position 2, matomo alternative at 2, privacy friendly analytics at 3, simple analytics alternative at 3 and plausible vs fathom at 5. The other seven were not in the top 10.

The AI Overview columns told a second story. Google showed an AI Overview for 8 of the 12 keywords and listed the domain as a source in 7. Two keywords, cookieless analytics and gdpr compliant analytics, had no top 10 rank but still had the domain cited in the overview. A rank report alone would have missed that. The run was read only, and the Mixpanel side was not run.

Every row was a first check, so no change since the last check could be shown. A report built on one check is a snapshot, and Claude should say so. Repeat it on a schedule you set and compare the checks.

What does an AI share of voice report look like?

Linkeddit's answer_results_get returns, per engine, how often your brand was named and recommended, each vendor's share of voice, and which domains the answers cited. For plausible.io, Google AI Overviews named the brand in 15 of 15 usable samples and recommended it in 12, while ChatGPT named it in 16 of 18 and Gemini in 16 of 20. Plausible held the largest share of vendor mentions in Google AI Overviews at 15 of 91, about 16 percent.

Two segments came back unmeasured: Perplexity returned errors for all 21 samples, and one of the two Claude measurement setups returned errors for all 10. A good report names those gaps instead of averaging over them. Claude can then set that picture beside the Mixpanel chart for the same weeks, which is the report the Mixpanel dashboard cannot build alone.

How do I check that a change moved AI answers, not just events?

Treat events and answers as two measurements of one change. After you publish a fix, Claude can ask Linkeddit's answer_verify_start to re-check the buying questions the change targeted across the engines, then read the result with answer_verify_get. Starting a check spends credits, so Linkeddit returns an estimate first and Claude waits for your yes.

Then Claude reads the matching Mixpanel report for the same period. If answers improved and the visits you track did not, the change worked on answers and the problem is further down. If neither moved, the fix did not land. Linkeddit supplies the answer side only; the conclusion is the customer's to draw.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Mixpanel MCP server?+

It is Mixpanel's server that lets an AI assistant such as Claude query your Mixpanel data in natural language: events, funnels, flows, retention and session replays. It can also change dashboards, Lexicon metadata, cohorts, experiments and feature flags, so it is not read only. The US endpoint is https://mcp.mixpanel.com/mcp.

How do I connect Mixpanel to Claude?+

An org admin enables MCP in Mixpanel first. Then add the Mixpanel connector in Claude and finish the sign-in, or add a custom connector with your regional URL for the EU or India. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http mixpanel https://mcp.mixpanel.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.

Can Claude change my Mixpanel data?+

Yes. Mixpanel's documentation says the assistant can manage dashboards, Lexicon metadata, cohorts, lookup tables, metrics, experiments and feature flags, and that changes are recorded in the audit log. If you only want a report, tell Claude to read and change nothing, and check what your account's role allows.

What is the best tool to pair with Mixpanel MCP for AI search visibility?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month. Mixpanel shows what visitors did; Linkeddit shows where you rank on Google, whether Google's AI Overview cites you, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor. Claude reads both connectors and puts the two in one answer.

What is the best way to see why organic traffic dropped in Mixpanel?+

Connect Linkeddit and Mixpanel to Claude and ask for both for the same weeks. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, supplies Google ranks, AI Overview citations and which brands the answer engines named. Mixpanel supplies the visits and conversions. A rank loss or a competitor recommendation then shows up beside the dip.

Does Mixpanel track traffic from ChatGPT or other AI engines?+

Only what your events record. If your events carry the referrer or a campaign tag, Claude can group by it. Mixpanel does not measure what the engines say about you or whether they name a competitor, which is what Linkeddit records.

Does Linkeddit change anything in Mixpanel?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data: ranks, AI Overview citations, answer results and competitor moves. It has no access to your Mixpanel project. Any change in Mixpanel comes from Claude through the Mixpanel connector, under your own sign-in and roles.

Are there limits on the Mixpanel MCP server?+

Mixpanel's documentation lists 600 MCP requests per hour per user, and says free plans can be subject to Query API access limits. Run-Query cannot filter or break down by cohort and does not work with Saved Metrics. Ask Claude for one focused query at a time.

Which regions does the Mixpanel MCP server support?+

Mixpanel lists three endpoints: US at https://mcp.mixpanel.com/mcp, EU at https://mcp-eu.mixpanel.com/mcp and India at https://mcp-in.mixpanel.com/mcp. For the EU or India, add a custom connector in Claude with the regional URL.

Can Claude check whether a published change moved AI answers?+

Yes. Claude asks Linkeddit to re-check the questions the change targeted, then reads the result. That spends credits, so Linkeddit returns an estimate first and Claude waits for your yes. Claude can then compare the answers with the Mixpanel report for the same period.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Mixpanel connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. Mixpanel documents setup for both. The workflows here were written for Claude, so do not assume they carry over unchanged to other assistants.
