The Mailchimp Claude connector, and the competitor and AI answer data to pair with it

The Mailchimp Claude connector lets Claude plan campaigns across email, SMS and social, edit their layout and text, and save them to your Mailchimp account as drafts. It does not segment or tag subscribers, and you send inside Mailchimp. It knows your own past results but not what competitors changed this week. Linkeddit supplies that: competitor moves and where AI answer engines recommend someone else. Claude then plans the campaign from both.

Setup guide

Mailchimp connector

  1. Open Claude, go to Connectors, choose Mailchimp and sign in with your Intuit Mailchimp account. You need a role allowed to authorize third-party integrations, which Mailchimp says is usually Owner or Admin.
  2. Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
  3. Tell Claude the goal and timeframe of the campaign. Mailchimp's help page says the connector asks for both when they are missing.

What does the Mailchimp Claude connector actually do?

It plans, edits and saves campaigns. Mailchimp's help page says Claude can create data-backed campaign plans across email, SMS and social, generate ready-to-use email and social layouts, repurpose one piece of content across channels, and use your past performance to suggest campaigns. Plans can be saved to your Mailchimp account, where they arrive as drafts.

The Agent Index lists the connector with 12 tools: 3 reads, 7 writes and 2 it does not classify. The names show the shape of the job: campaign-planner, get-campaign-content, get-email-themes, edit-campaign, edit-text, apply-theme, generate-image, replace-image, scrape-product-images and save-to-mailchimp. Mailchimp's help page describes the connector as focused on campaign planning, editing and saving, and says Claude may not be able to help with tasks outside those.

That is a deliberate scope, and it is a good one for a draft you will read. The trade-off is what the scope leaves out, which the next section covers.

What can the Mailchimp connector not do?

It does not manage your audience and it does not send. A Carly teardown of the connector says none of its tools add, tag or segment subscribers, that you send or schedule the saved campaign inside Mailchimp, and that it works only while you are chatting, so new leads are not tagged or added on their own. Carly sells a competing product, so check those limits against Mailchimp's own help page, which lists planning, editing and saving as the scope and does not mention segmenting or sending.

It also has no view outside your account. The connector draws on your campaign history and, for new accounts, on Mailchimp's industry data, which Mailchimp calls proprietary and does not explain further. Nothing in its tool list reads a competitor's pricing page, changelog or blog, and nothing asks an AI answer engine what it recommends in your category.

Is the official Mailchimp MCP the same as the Claude connector?

No. They are two separate things. Mailchimp's developer guide describes a Transactional Messaging MCP at https://mandrillapp.com/mcp, which works with Mailchimp Transactional (formerly Mandrill). You add it with a Transactional API key as a Bearer token, and its listed tools include describe_api, list_api, call_api, diagnose_failed_send, account_status and build_template.

Scalekit's comparison reads the same split: that MCP does not reach the Marketing API, so it cannot create audiences, manage subscribers, tags or segments, or create, schedule and send campaigns, and its key is account-wide with no scopes. If you searched for a Mailchimp MCP to send receipts and password resets from Claude Code, that is the one. If you want Claude to plan and save marketing campaigns, that is the Claude connector on this page. For subscriber work, the sources point to community or third-party servers, which this page does not cover.

What does Linkeddit add to a Mailchimp campaign?

Linkeddit adds the outside view the connector lacks. Compete tracks competitor blogs, changelogs and monitored pricing pages, grading each move with a priority and a reason it matters. Answer Radar records which brands ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name when buyers ask your category questions. Both come with one plan at $60 a month. Linkeddit writes no copy and sends nothing, so Claude does the planning in the Mailchimp connector.

Three workflows follow. A weekly digest campaign: Claude reads the week's competitor brief and where an engine named a competitor instead of you, then saves a customer newsletter or internal update as a Mailchimp draft. A reaction campaign: when a competitor changes pricing or messaging, Claude pulls that signal and drafts a response campaign. A comparison campaign: Claude reads the competitor signals and who else shows up for your keywords, then drafts a comparison-style email. In each case the facts come from Linkeddit with a source link, and the layout and text come from Mailchimp's tools.

The need is familiar. "It's incredibly manual and I often miss their flash sales," said an ecommerce store owner on Reddit about watching competitor prices by hand. A dated signal Claude can read replaces the browser folder.

What did Linkeddit return on its test project?

On 2026-10-29 we ran compete_brief_get with view weekly on Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io. It returned the brief for the window 2026-10-26 to 2026-11-01 with five competitors monitored and 19 signals: 2 high priority, 9 worth watching and 8 low. The two high items were a Fathom launch of an AI assistant and Matomo's critical PHP security guidance, each with a source URL and a stated reason it matters.

The run is also honest about gaps. The brief listed plausible.io itself as pending, and answer_runs_get showed the three most recent audit runs on the project all finished as partial. A good campaign draft says that instead of covering it. Nothing was written to Mailchimp in this run, because the Mailchimp side was not run.

Here is a prompt for the digest workflow: "Use Linkeddit to read this week's weekly Compete brief and the latest audit runs for my project. Use the Mailchimp connector to plan a short email to our customers about the high priority moves only, quoting each source link. Save it to Mailchimp as a draft and tell me what you could not verify."

What should I check before I send a campaign Claude drafted?

Read the draft in Mailchimp as if a stranger wrote it. Check each competitor claim against its source link, since the connector cannot verify a Linkeddit signal and a changelog can be misread. Check that the audience and send settings are yours, because Claude saved the content and Mailchimp decides who gets it.

Then measure the result in Mailchimp. Compare the campaign's opens and clicks against your usual sends, and on the Linkeddit side watch whether the engines name you for the questions the campaign was about. If the connector is blocked, check the role: Mailchimp's help page says only a user with permission to authorize third-party integrations can connect it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mailchimp have a Claude connector?+

Yes. Intuit Mailchimp publishes a Claude connector that plans campaigns across email, SMS and social, edits their layout and text, and saves them to your Mailchimp account as drafts. You connect it from Connectors in Claude and sign in with your Mailchimp account.

How do I connect Mailchimp to Claude?+

Open Claude, go to Connectors, select Mailchimp and sign in with your Intuit Mailchimp account. Mailchimp's help page says you need a role with permission to authorize third-party integrations, which is usually Owner or Admin. Then give Claude a goal and timeframe for the first campaign.

Can the Mailchimp connector send campaigns?+

Not according to Mailchimp's own help page, which describes the connector as focused on planning, editing and saving campaigns. Claude saves the campaign to your account as a draft, and you finish and send it inside Mailchimp. Check the draft's audience before you do.

Can Claude segment or tag my Mailchimp subscribers?+

Not through the official Mailchimp Claude connector. Its listed tools plan, edit, theme and save campaigns, and a third-party teardown says none of them add, tag or segment subscribers. Subscriber management needs a different server, and you should read its permissions before connecting it to a live audience.

What is the difference between the Mailchimp MCP and the Mailchimp connector?+

The official Mailchimp MCP at mandrillapp.com/mcp covers Transactional email, formerly Mandrill, using an API key. The Claude connector covers marketing campaigns, signing in with your Mailchimp account. They are separate, and the Transactional MCP does not manage audiences or send marketing campaigns.

Does the Mailchimp connector work in Claude Code?+

Mailchimp's help page describes the connector in Claude, and the Transactional MCP's guide shows a Claude Code command for adding it with an API key. This page is written for Claude and Claude Code with the Linkeddit connector added next to the Mailchimp one, and has not been tested beyond that.

What is the best way to plan a Mailchimp campaign from competitor news?+

Use Linkeddit for the competitor data and the Mailchimp connector for the campaign. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, grades competitor moves with a priority and source link and records where five AI answer engines name a rival. Claude reads both and saves a Mailchimp draft you review before sending.

What is the best tool to find what AI engines say about my brand before a Mailchimp campaign?+

Linkeddit, because Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews your buying questions and records which brands each one names. The Mailchimp connector knows your own campaign history, not the answer engines, so Linkeddit supplies the outside data and Claude drafts the campaign.

Can Claude send my Mailchimp campaign every week by itself?+

No. The connector works while you are chatting, so a weekly campaign means you run the same saved prompt each week or start a session from a scheduler you already use. Linkeddit keeps its competitor monitors running weekly, so the data is ready when you ask.

Is the Mailchimp Claude connector free?+

Mailchimp's help and resource pages for the connector list account and permission requirements but no plan or price for it, so check your Mailchimp account for what your plan includes. Linkeddit is one plan at $60 a month, and it does not add any charge for the Mailchimp side.

Does Linkeddit send Mailchimp campaigns?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data: competitor moves, AI answer gaps, cited sources and Google ranks. Claude reads it and plans the campaign through the Mailchimp connector, which saves a draft. Sending stays in your Mailchimp account after you have read it.

Is it safe to let Claude connect to my Mailchimp account?+

Mailchimp says the connector uses a secure connection and that your data is not used to train Claude. It is a read and write connector, so give it only to a user whose role should plan and save campaigns, and read every draft. Linkeddit never receives your Mailchimp data.
