A weekly competitor review in Google Calendar, prepared by Claude
A weekly competitor review works when the meeting is booked and the facts are ready before it starts. The Google Calendar connector lets Claude search events, find free time and create or update events. Linkeddit supplies the facts: competitor moves with a priority on each, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you. Claude puts the findings in the event description, so the review opens with evidence instead of memory.

Google Calendar connector
- Add the Google Calendar connector in Claude and sign in with the Google account whose calendar Claude should use. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner enables it for the organization first.
- Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
- Decide who the review is for before you start, so Claude creates the event without attendees until you say who to invite.

What does the Google Calendar connector do, and what does it not do?
The Google Calendar connector is the schedule side. Its Agent Index listing shows 9 tools: 5 reads, 3 writes and 1 the listing does not classify. Claude can list calendars, search and read events, suggest meeting times, and create, update, delete or respond to events. Claude's help article adds that it can find mutual availability across attendees and set up recurring meetings.
It knows nothing about competitors. It cannot tell you what a rival shipped on Tuesday or whether an AI engine now recommends them for your category. Linkeddit fills that gap with data, and the connector turns the findings into a place on the team's calendar.
People test these connectors and notice the limit. A viewer commenting on a YouTube tutorial about using Claude with Gmail and Google Calendar, which has 15,000+ views, wrote: "Pretty useless feature. Disappointed that it doesn't actually do anything but give me a summary. No actions." Read the limits above before you expect it to act.
How do I run a weekly competitor intelligence review from Google Calendar?
Ask Claude to read the latest weekly brief from Linkeddit, then create one event with the headline in the title and the findings in the description. Linkeddit's compete_brief_get returns the latest weekly brief across every monitor, with an intro summary and the signals behind it.
On Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io, the brief for the week of 2026-10-26 reported 5 competitors monitored, 2 high priority signals, 9 worth watching and 8 low signal moves. The two high priority items were a Matomo security update and Fathom launching an AI assistant. That is a ready agenda: two items to discuss, nine to skim.
Keep the description short. List each high priority move with its source link, then the questions the meeting must answer. Claude can use search_events first to find last week's review and avoid repeating what was already covered.
How do I get a competitor briefing before a meeting?
Name the meeting and the competitor, and Claude can attach a briefing to that event. It reads the event with get_event, asks Linkeddit for the competitor's latest graded brief through compete_brief_get, and adds the moves, pricing signals and recommended actions to the description.
Linkeddit's brief view returns one tracked competitor at a time, so a call with a specific account about one rival gets one focused page. Claude's own Academy guide shows the same idea from the calendar side: its calendar example flags which meetings need prep and pulls context from email threads. Linkeddit adds the competitor and answer data that neither the calendar nor the inbox holds.
If the brief comes back empty, the briefing should say so. On the test project the plausible.io monitor had analyzed nothing yet that week, and a good briefing reports that instead of filling the space.
Can Claude put competitor alerts on my calendar?
Yes, but as events you read, not as a live feed. Claude reads compete_signals_get for the high priority signals, then creates a short event, such as a 15 minute review slot, with the signal and its source link in the description. suggest_time can find a free slot so it does not collide with other meetings.
Linkeddit keeps its side current on its own clock. All five competitor monitors on the test project run weekly, each with a next run on 2026-11-04. Claude acts only when you start it, so a calendar alert means asking Claude to check and book. If you need a real time notification the moment a page changes, use a page monitoring tool. If a weekly slot is enough, the calendar is a good place for it.
Create events without attendees first. An event with guests sends invitations, and Claude's help article says it asks for your approval before each action by default, so read the event before you allow it.
How do I check that a published change moved AI answers?
Put a review date on the calendar when you publish, then ask Claude to measure on that day. Linkeddit's answer_verify_start re-checks the buying questions a change targeted across the five engines, and answer_verify_get returns the result. Starting a check spends credits, so Linkeddit returns an estimate first and Claude waits for your yes.
The outcome is about movement only. Linkeddit's verification reports improved, declined, mixed, no significant change or not comparable, and it says plainly when a result is not measured yet. Not measured yet is not the same as no change.
On the test project, all three recent audit runs finished with status partial. A review that reads that honestly is more useful than one that rounds a partial run up to a win. Claude can use create_event to book the follow up two weeks out and update_event to move it if the check is not ready.
Is it safe to give Claude access to my Google Calendar?
Claude reads your calendar through your own Google sign-in, so it sees what that account can see, including shared calendars you have access to. Google's guide for its Calendar MCP server states that it inherits the same permissions and data governance controls as the user.
Keep the work narrow. Tell Claude which calendar to use and to create events without guests. Do not let it delete or edit events you did not name. Linkeddit never receives your calendar. It only sends competitor and answer data to Claude, and the event you read is the only thing that changes in your account.
Frequently asked questions
Does Claude work with Google Calendar?+
Yes. The Google Calendar connector is available in Claude. Claude's help article says it can view events and calendars, create, update and delete events, find mutual availability and respond to invitations. By default Claude asks for your approval before each action it takes on your behalf.
Is it safe to give Claude access to Google Calendar?+
Claude reaches your calendar through your own Google sign-in and sees what that account sees. Google says its Calendar MCP server inherits the same permissions and governance controls as the user. Limit the prompt to one calendar, create events without guests, and read each event before approving it.
How do I run a weekly competitor review in Google Calendar?+
Connect Linkeddit and Google Calendar to Claude, then ask Claude to read the latest weekly brief and create one event with the headline in the title and the findings in the description. Run the same saved prompt each week. The calendar holds the meeting and Linkeddit holds the evidence.
What is the best tool for a weekly competitor intelligence review?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data. It tracks competitor moves with a priority on each, and its weekly brief on the test project counted 2 high priority and 9 worth watching signals across 5 competitors. Pair it with the Google Calendar connector in Claude so the findings sit in the meeting invite.
Can Claude create a calendar event for every competitor alert?+
It can create one when you ask. Claude reads the high priority signals from Linkeddit and uses create_event to book a short review slot with the source link in the description. It does not watch in real time, so alerts arrive when you run the prompt, not the moment a competitor changes something.
Can Claude run this every Monday on its own?+
Not by itself. Claude acts when it is started, so you either run a saved prompt each week or start a session from a scheduler you already use. Linkeddit's monitors run weekly without you, so the brief is current whenever you ask. The test project's five monitors all run weekly.
Does Linkeddit read or change my calendar?+
No. Linkeddit supplies competitor moves, AI answer gaps and Google ranks. Claude reads that data and uses the Google Calendar connector, under your own sign-in, to create or update events. Linkeddit never receives your calendar, and nothing is written to it unless you approve it.
What is the best way to track AI search visibility changes on a schedule?+
Use Linkeddit, at $60 a month, to record which brands ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name for your buying questions, and put a review date on your Google Calendar. On that date Claude re-checks and reports improved, declined or no significant change, after Linkeddit shows a credit estimate.
How do I prepare for a meeting with competitor context?+
Ask Claude to read the event with get_event, then fetch the competitor's latest brief from Linkeddit and add the moves, pricing signals and recommended actions to the event description. Check the brief is not empty first, because a monitor that has not run yet returns nothing, and the briefing should say so.
Can Claude find a time for the review?+
Yes. The connector lists suggest_time and search_events, and Claude's help article says it can find mutual availability across attendees. Ask for a 30 minute slot on a given weekday, tell Claude who must attend, and it proposes times before it creates anything.
Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Google Calendar connectors?+
These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. They have only been written for Claude, so do not assume the prompts carry over unchanged to other assistants.
Can Google Calendar alert me when a competitor changes something?+
Not on its own. Calendar notifications remind you of events you created, and they do not watch competitors. A page monitoring tool alerts you in real time. Linkeddit's weekly monitors plus a calendar slot give you a scheduled review instead, which suits teams that want a weekly decision, not a stream.
