Gmail and Linkeddit in Claude: competitor price alerts and a weekly digest drafted for you

Competitor alerts by email work best when the data and the email are separate jobs. The Gmail connector lets Claude search, read, draft and send mail in your account. Linkeddit supplies the data: competitor moves from blogs, changelogs and monitored pages, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you. Claude writes the email and saves it as a draft, so you read it before anything is sent.

Gmail connector

  1. Add the Gmail connector in Claude and sign in with the Google account Claude should use. The connector requires authentication.
  2. Add the Linkeddit connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp.
  3. Decide the recipient first, for example a pricing lead or the founder, so Claude never guesses an address.

What you can do with Gmail and Linkeddit

How do the Gmail connector and Linkeddit split the work?

The Gmail connector is the mailbox side. Its listing shows 29 tools: 6 reads, 11 writes and 12 the listing does not classify. It can search threads, read a thread, create and update drafts, send a message, and manage labels and filters. It has no view of what competitors shipped this week or what the answer engines say about your category.

Linkeddit is the data side. Compete tracks competitor moves with a priority on each, and Answer Radar records which brands the five engines name and recommend. Both come with one plan at $60 a month. Linkeddit writes no advice and sends no email, so the customer's own assistant decides what belongs in the message.

The pain is clear in how sellers describe it. "It's incredibly manual and I often miss their flash sales," said an ecommerce store owner on Reddit. Linkeddit finds and dates the move, and Claude drafts the Gmail message about it for you to review.

Should Claude send the email or save a draft?

Save a draft. The Gmail connector lists create_draft and send_message as separate tools, which lets you split writing from sending. A competitor email can carry a misread changelog or a wrong price, and a draft is where you catch it.

Agenta's competitor digest tutorial shows the risk the other way: with its permission policy left on Allow all, its agent sends the email without asking, and approving each send means changing the Gmail permission to Ask for write and delete. The prompts on these pages call only create_draft.

Does Claude email me on a schedule by itself?

No. Claude works when you start it, so a weekly email happens in one of two ways: you run the same saved prompt each week, or a scheduler you already use starts a Claude session. Neither needs a new Linkeddit feature, and these pages do not pretend otherwise.

Linkeddit's side does run on its own clock. On Linkeddit's test project, all five competitor monitors are set to weekly, each with a next run of 2026-11-04. Trackers such as Kuse and TinyCommand run daily and email only when a price changes. If you need that, use one. If a weekly email is enough, this workflow works.

Which Gmail workflows are covered here?

The first is a weekly competitor intelligence digest: one email with the headline change, where an engine named a competitor instead of you, and competitor moves by priority. It can also check whether a published change moved the answers, and it doubles as a one-off competitor brief by email. The second is price change alerts: the week's pricing moves and high priority signals, filtered so a quiet week stays quiet. Each guide has an exact prompt, the steps and a measured read-only run.

What should I check before Claude drafts from my mailbox?

Claude reads Gmail through your own sign-in, and search_threads and get_thread can open any thread the account can see. Use a mailbox whose contents you are comfortable having Claude read, and tell it exactly which threads it may search, for example last week's digest only.

Then read the draft. Check each price and each source link, and look for a claim the data does not support. On the test project, the competitor brief returned empty and all three recent audit runs finished partial. A good email says that instead of covering it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get competitor alerts in Gmail?+

Either use a tracker such as Kuse, TinyCommand or PageCrawl, which watches pricing pages and emails you when something changes, or connect the Linkeddit and Gmail connectors to Claude and ask it to draft an email of the week's competitor moves. The second route is a digest you trigger, not a real-time feed.

What is the best tool for Gmail competitor alerts with AI visibility?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data half. It tracks competitor moves with a priority on each and records where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a competitor instead of you. Pair it with the Gmail connector in Claude to draft a grouped email for your team.

Can Claude send emails through Gmail?+

Yes. The Gmail connector lists create_draft, update_draft, send_message, reply and forward among its write tools, plus search_threads and get_thread for reading. Saving a draft and sending it yourself is the safer default, because you can check every claim before it reaches a recipient.

Can Claude run my Gmail digest every Monday on its own?+

Not by itself. Claude acts when it is started, so you either run a saved prompt each week or use a scheduler you already have to start a session. Linkeddit keeps the data fresh on its own, with competitor monitors that run weekly, so the digest is ready whenever you ask for it.

Does Linkeddit send email?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data: competitor moves, AI answer gaps, cited sources and Google ranks. Claude reads it and writes the email through the Gmail connector. Sending stays in your own Gmail account, under your sign-in, after you have read the draft.

Can Claude check whether a published change moved AI answers?+

Yes, as a step in the digest. Claude asks Linkeddit to re-check the questions the change targeted. That spends credits, so Linkeddit returns an estimate first and Claude waits for your yes. The result goes into the next email as one line saying whether the engines now name you.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Gmail connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you can add both connectors and let Claude work across them. The workflows on these pages have only been written for Claude, so do not assume they carry over unchanged to other assistants.

What is the best way to get competitor moves in my inbox every week?+

Connect Linkeddit and Gmail to Claude and run one saved prompt each week. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, supplies graded competitor moves with a priority and a reason on each, plus where AI engines name a competitor instead of you. Claude saves the email as a Gmail draft, so you read it before it goes.

Is it safe to let Claude read my Gmail?+

Claude reaches Gmail through your own sign-in, and search_threads and get_thread can open any thread that account can see. Use a mailbox you are comfortable sharing and limit the prompt to what it needs, for example last week's digest only. Linkeddit never receives your mail; it only supplies competitor and answer data.

How do I stop the same competitor item appearing in two emails?+

Have Claude search Gmail with search_threads for the previous email and open it with get_thread, then include only what is new. Linkeddit's signals carry a week_of date, so Claude can also filter to the current week and compare it with the one before.
