The G2 connector in Claude, and how it differs from the competitor reviews Linkeddit stores
The G2 MCP server connects Claude to G2 buyer intent signals, competitive intelligence, product catalog data and review analytics. G2 says it surfaces data for products you own and manage on G2, and connecting needs a G2 account with the right subscription. Linkeddit works from the other side: it stores public reviews of the competitors you monitor, and adds what competitors ship and where AI answer engines recommend them instead of you.

What does the G2 connector give Claude?
G2's documentation says its MCP server connects AI assistants to buyer intent data, competitive intelligence, product catalog data and review analytics. The tools it lists include browse_buyer_intent, browse_product_buyer_intent and browse_competitive_intelligence for intent and co-evaluation, list_standard_product_reviews and list_market_intelligence_product_reviews for reviews, and list_products, show_product, list_categories and show_category for the catalog.
G2's own examples are sales jobs: which companies are researching your product with their intent scores (0 to 100), which accounts to prioritize this week, and a pre-call briefing on one company. The documentation also lists research board tools that create, update and delete boards, so the connector is not strictly read-only. The Agent Index listing shows a shorter set of nine tools, all read-only, so check the tool list your own Claude session shows.
The pull is speed. "Speed to insight is everything in GTM," a commenter wrote under a LinkedIn post announcing the connector.
G2 is the review site's own connector, so the data is first-party and tied to your G2 account. It does not tell Claude what a competitor shipped last week, and it does not record what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude or Google AI Overviews say about your category.
Who can connect the G2 connector, and whose data does it return?
You need a G2 account, products registered on G2 and the subscription and entitlements for the data you want. G2's page states that only users with G2 Admin access can generate the credentials to connect, and that the connector only surfaces data for products you own and manage on G2.
G2's documentation adds one exception. Market Intelligence review data, including firmographics, satisfaction and qualitative answers and feature ratings, can be queried for any competitor listed in your product's Admin, Competitors panel, but it requires an Enterprise package. If you do not see that data or the list_market_intelligence_product_reviews tool, G2 tells you to check your package level with your G2 representative.
That makes G2 the right connector when you are a G2 customer and want your own buyer intent and review themes in Claude. It is not a way to read any vendor's reviews on demand.
How do the G2 connector and Linkeddit's stored reviews differ?
They answer different questions. The G2 connector reads G2's data about your products through your G2 account. Linkeddit's Compete stores public reviews of the competitors you monitor, with the site, rating, title, text, author, date and page link, and a fetch log showing what it read and what it could not.
A read-only run on Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io, on 2026-10-29 called compete_signals_get with the reviews view. It returned 24 stored reviews: 14 from Trustpilot and 10 from G2. All 10 G2 reviews were for Matomo, all rated 1 or 2 stars, dated from 2014 to 2019, one titled "Do not see what they offer that Google Analytics doesn't". The fetch log shows 20 G2 reviews read and 10 new for Matomo, while the G2 fetches for Fathom Analytics, Simple Analytics and Umami returned no_results.
Two things follow. Linkeddit's G2 reviews are public competitor reviews, not your G2 buyer intent. And coverage is uneven, so a thin review set for a competitor means Linkeddit stored few, not that the market is quiet. A good Claude answer says so.
How do I use both to answer customer objections?
Use G2 for your own side and Linkeddit for the competitor side. In Claude, ask the G2 connector for the themes in your own reviews and the competitors your prospects compare you with. Ask Linkeddit for the stored competitor reviews and the week's competitor moves, then have Claude set the two next to each other.
On the test project, Linkeddit's signals view returned 19 competitor moves, among them a high priority one: Fathom Analytics launched an AI assistant called Luna. Against low-rated reviews that complain about support or setup, that gives Claude a concrete question: is the competitor shipping what its reviewers say is missing?
Keep the claims modest. Review text is opinion, a handful of reviews is not a trend, and Linkeddit supplies data rather than advice. The conclusions come from Claude, which you should check against the linked reviews.
How should I connect and prompt the two together?
Connect G2 from the connector directory as above and add Linkeddit at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. Linkeddit comes with one plan at $60 a month. Then give Claude one job at a time and say which connector answers which part, because the two have different scopes.
A prompt that works: "Using the G2 MCP, list the top themes in my 3-star and below reviews. Using Linkeddit, read the stored reviews and competitor moves for the competitors I monitor. Compare the two lists, quote the source link for every claim, and tell me where the data is too thin to conclude." Nothing in it writes to G2 or Linkeddit.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a G2 MCP server for Claude?+
Yes. G2 publishes an MCP server at https://mcp.g2.com/mcp and a connector you can add from Claude's connector directory. G2's documentation says it connects assistants to buyer intent data, competitive intelligence, product catalog data and review analytics. Connecting needs a G2 account and the right subscription.
How do I connect G2 to Claude?+
In Claude Desktop or Claude on the web, open Connectors, choose Manage Connectors, search for G2, select G2 MCP and connect, then sign in with the email you used to create your G2 account. G2 says direct connections are for developers and need credentials that only G2 Admins can generate.
Can Claude read any company's G2 reviews through the G2 connector?+
Not on demand. G2 says the connector surfaces data for products you own and manage on G2. Its documentation adds that Market Intelligence review data can be queried for competitors in your product's Competitors panel, but that needs an Enterprise package. Check your own entitlements with your G2 representative.
What is the best tool for analyzing competitor reviews with Claude?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month, if you want stored competitor reviews next to competitor moves and AI answer gaps. On its test project it held 24 stored reviews from Trustpilot and G2 with ratings, text, dates and links. The G2 connector is the better fit when you want your own G2 buyer intent.
What is the best way to see what buyers say about competitors in Claude?+
Connect Linkeddit and ask Claude to read the stored reviews for the competitors you monitor, then compare them with the week's competitor moves. Linkeddit supplies each review's site, rating, text, date and link, so claims can be checked. Add the G2 connector for your own review themes if you have a G2 account.
What is the difference between the G2 connector and Linkeddit's G2 reviews?+
The G2 connector reads G2's data about your products through your G2 account, including buyer intent. Linkeddit stores public reviews of competitors you monitor, including some from G2, and does not read your G2 buyer intent. On Linkeddit's test project, 10 of 24 stored reviews came from G2 and all were for one competitor.
Does Linkeddit use the G2 connector?+
No. Linkeddit stores public competitor reviews itself and is a separate connector at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. You add the G2 connector and the Linkeddit connector to Claude side by side, and Claude draws on both. Neither one passes data to the other.
Why does Linkeddit show no G2 reviews for some competitors?+
Because the fetch found none. On Linkeddit's test project, the fetch log showed G2 fetches for Fathom Analytics, Simple Analytics and Umami returning no_results, while Matomo returned 20 reviews. Ask Claude to read the fetches field alongside the reviews, so it reports gaps rather than guessing.
Does the G2 connector cost extra?+
G2 says access depends on your G2 subscription and entitlements, and that Market Intelligence data requires an Enterprise package. It does not publish a separate connector price on the pages we read, so ask your G2 representative. Linkeddit is one plan at $60 a month and includes its reviews and competitor moves.
Can the G2 connector change anything on my G2 profile?+
G2's documentation lists research board tools that create, update and delete boards, so it is not purely read-only. Its review, intent and catalog tools are reads. The Agent Index listing shows nine read-only tools instead. Check the tools your Claude session lists before you rely on either description.
Which clients work with this setup?+
These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you add the G2 connector and Linkeddit side by side. G2 also documents ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot connections, but the workflow on this page has only been written for Claude and has not been tested elsewhere.
How do I measure whether the review comparison helped?+
Pick one objection that appears in competitor reviews, change your page or sales answer to address it, and track two things: whether prospects still raise it, and whether AI answers now name you. Linkeddit's answer gap data shows the second, and it records which engine named which brand.
