Dropbox competitor analysis and AI visibility reports, saved by Claude

A Dropbox competitor analysis report is a text file Claude writes from measured data and saves in a Dropbox project folder. The Dropbox connector gives Claude 19 tools to search, read, organize, save and share files under your existing Dropbox permissions. It cannot see competitors or AI answers. Linkeddit supplies that data, Claude writes the report, and Dropbox stores it next to the project files and can share it by link.

What can Claude do in Dropbox, and what can it not?

Dropbox's listing shows 19 tools: 11 reads, 6 writes and 2 the listing does not classify. Claude can search, list folders, fetch files and check metadata, and it can create folders and files, copy, move, delete, create shared links and create file requests. It has no view of competitors, rankings or AI answers.

One limit shapes every workflow here. Dropbox says Claude-generated output can currently be saved only as text-based file types: .txt, .md, .html and .py. Generated images and PDFs cannot be saved directly through the integration. So the report is a Markdown or HTML file, not a PDF deck or a chart image.

How do I get a competitor analysis report into Dropbox with Claude?

Have Claude read Linkeddit's weekly competitor brief, write the report in Markdown, and save it with create_file in a named folder. The input matters more than the file type. Linkeddit's latest weekly brief on the test project (plausible.io, window 2026-10-26 to 2026-11-01) reported 5 competitors monitored, 2 high priority moves, 9 worth watching and 8 low signal.

The two high priority moves each carried a source link and a reason it matters: Fathom launched an AI assistant, and Matomo published critical PHP security updates. Dropbox's own guide suggests asking Claude to name the source files it used and flag conflicting details. Apply the same rule to the moves: every line in the report should point at its source link.

Then ask for a handoff. Dropbox's guide describes creating a link to the draft and, when something is missing, a file request that sends uploads to a folder you choose. A contributor can upload without a Dropbox account. A report that asks teammates for the sales calls you want quoted is a stronger report.

The starting point for many teams is plain. A startup founder on Reddit wrote: "What surprises me is that many companies still rely on spreadsheets, saved tabs, screenshots, and occasional alerts for competitor tracking." A report saved in Dropbox with dated findings is the step up from that.

How do I keep sales battlecards current in Dropbox?

Save one Markdown battlecard per competitor in a shared folder, and have Claude regenerate it from Linkeddit's latest signals. compete_signals_get returns each move with a priority, a category, why it matters and the source link. With view=reviews it returns stored G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Trustpilot reviews, so the card can quote buyer complaints.

The connector has no tool described as updating a file in place, so decide how to treat the old card before you start. Ask Claude to use copy to keep last week's card under a dated name, then save the new one with create_file. Check in Dropbox how a same-name save behaves on your account before you rely on it, and use Dropbox's own version history if you need to go back.

Keep low priority moves off the card. On the test project, most of a week's moves were blog posts classed low, such as a cookie banner article. A card needs the two or three moves a rep would actually be asked about.

Can Claude save an AI visibility report to Dropbox?

Yes, as a Markdown or HTML file with tables in place of charts. Linkeddit measures presence, recommendation, share of voice and citation share across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews. answer_runs_get shows whether each audit run finished, and Claude writes the findings and saves them.

State the run status first. On the test project, all three of the most recent audit runs finished with status partial. A report that leaves that out claims more than was measured.

Use the action queue for the findings. answer_actions_get on the test project returned a competitor_won card, backed by 12 competitor citations, and a content_gap card, both for the buying question about Umami and Matomo for self-hosted analytics. Each carries counts, which make better report rows than adjectives.

How do I put Google rankings and AI Overview citations in a Dropbox file?

Ask Claude to call search_visibility_get, which Linkeddit describes as read only and free, and save the table as a Markdown file. It lists each tracked keyword with its latest rank, the change since the last check, whether Google showed an AI Overview, and whether that Overview cited the project.

On the test project, 25 keywords are tracked. For google analytics alternative the project ranked 2 on 2026-10-28, with an AI Overview shown that cited the site. For cookieless analytics it was outside the top 10, yet an AI Overview was shown and also cited the site. Report both columns, because a missing blue link does not mean no visibility.

Those were first checks, so there was no change to report. Tell Claude not to describe a trend from a single check, and to date the file name so each week is its own file.

Can Dropbox track the actions an AI visibility audit finds?

Only as a file. Dropbox's tool list has no task or ticket tool, so the tracker is a Markdown file Claude saves, such as an open actions list ordered by rank. Linkeddit holds the real queue: answer_actions_get returns each action with a status of suggested, todo, in_progress, done or dismissed and the evidence behind it.

A file works when the audience is a handful of people reading a weekly list. Share it with create_shared_link. Dropbox says recipients of a link created in Claude must request access before they can view it, which you may like for a competitive document. If a team needs assignees and due dates, use a task connector instead and keep Dropbox for the reports.

What should I check before Claude changes my Dropbox?

The connector includes move and delete, so tell Claude in the prompt to create and share only, and never to move or delete anything. Dropbox says existing permissions and admin controls continue to apply, and the connector works only with files the connected account can already access.

Read the report before you share it. Linkeddit reports unmeasured scopes as unmeasured, not zero, and partial runs as partial, and a good report carries both through. Linkeddit supplies the data and writes no advice. It comes with one plan at $60 a month.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude connect to Dropbox?+

Yes. Dropbox offers a connector for claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, and a plugin for Claude Cowork and Claude Code. You sign in to Dropbox once, and Dropbox says the authorization covers the supported Claude experiences. Your Claude admin may need to allow it first.

How do I connect Dropbox to Claude Code?+

Install the Dropbox plugin: in the Claude desktop app, open Customize, then Plugins, search for Dropbox and authorize it. Dropbox's help article says the connector and plugin share one authorization, so you connect once. An admin can set the plugin to installed by default, available or blocked.

How do I make a competitor analysis report with Claude and Dropbox?+

Connect Linkeddit and Dropbox to Claude, ask Claude to read the weekly competitor brief and write the report as Markdown, then save it with create_file in a named folder. Ask for a shared link at the end. Linkeddit supplies each move with a source link.

What is the best tool for a competitor analysis report in Dropbox?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data. It tracks competitor blogs, changelogs and monitored pages and grades each move with a priority and a source link. On its test project, one weekly brief covered 5 competitors and 19 graded moves. Claude writes the report and saves it to Dropbox.

What is the best way to track AI visibility in Dropbox?+

Measure it with Linkeddit and store the report in Dropbox. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, records where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name you or a competitor, with share of voice and cited sources. Claude saves the findings as a Markdown file in your project folder.

Can Claude save a PDF or a chart to Dropbox?+

Not directly. Dropbox says Claude can currently save generated output only as text-based files such as .txt, .md, .html and .py, and cannot save generated images or PDFs through the integration. Use tables in a Markdown or HTML file, then export a PDF yourself if you need one.

Can Claude share a Dropbox report with my team?+

Yes, with create_shared_link. Dropbox says people who open a link created in Claude must request access before they can view it, which is an added security measure. For missing inputs, create_file_request lets a contributor upload without a Dropbox account into a folder you choose.

Can Claude delete or move my Dropbox files?+

The connector lists move, copy and delete among its tools, within the permissions of the signed-in account. If you only want a report saved, say so in the prompt: create and share only, never move or delete. Read what Claude plans to do before you approve the action.

Does Linkeddit read my Dropbox files?+

No. Linkeddit supplies competitor and AI answer data and never receives your Dropbox content. Claude reads Dropbox through the Dropbox connector under your sign-in, and reads Linkeddit through its own connector. Each connector sees only its own side.

Can Claude refresh the Dropbox report every week without me?+

Not by itself. Claude acts when it is started, so you either run a saved prompt each week or start a session from a scheduler you already use. Linkeddit keeps the data fresh on its own clock, so the weekly brief is ready whenever you ask for it.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and Dropbox connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code. Dropbox's connector works in claude.ai and the desktop app, and its plugin in Claude Cowork and Claude Code. Add Linkeddit at https://mcp.linkeddit.com/mcp. Do not assume the workflows carry over unchanged to other assistants.
