BrightLocal MCP in Claude, with Linkeddit for AI answers
The BrightLocal connector lets Claude read your BrightLocal local SEO data: Local Rank Tracker results, Local Search Grid runs, reviews, citations and listing alerts. Linkeddit does not replace any of that. It measures something BrightLocal does not: what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews say to your buying questions, and where you rank on Google for a country. Claude puts the two side by side.

BrightLocal connector
- Check your BrightLocal plan. BrightLocal's help centre says BrightLocal Anywhere, which includes the MCP server, needs an active Grow plan, and that connecting it to Claude needs a Pro or Teams account.
- In Claude, add a custom connector named BrightLocal with the server URL from BrightLocal's help article, then authorize with your BrightLocal login or API key. BrightLocal's developer docs say connections are read-only by default, and you choose whether Claude may also create reports and update records.

What does the BrightLocal connector give Claude?
The BrightLocal connector lists 65 tools in the Agent Index: 32 reads, 27 writes, 3 admin actions, 1 transactional and 2 unclassified. The reads cover Local Rank Tracker reports and history, Local Search Grid runs and competitor rankings, Reputation Manager reviews, Citation Tracker results and Active Sync change alerts. The writes create and delete locations, clients and reports, and order citation campaigns.
BrightLocal's connector description says actions that spend credits or change live listings always ask for your confirmation first. Its listing marks the connector community tier, so read BrightLocal's own docs before connecting a client account. Start read-only and move to read-write only when you need Claude to create something.
What does Linkeddit add, and what does it not do?
Linkeddit measures AI answers and Google ranks. Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews your buying questions on a schedule, records which brands are named and which domains are cited, and lists the questions where a competitor is recommended instead of you. Search records weekly Google ranks and whether the AI Overview cites you. One plan at $60 a month covers it.
It does not measure local map packs, grid rankings, Google Business Profile data, reviews or citations in directories. Those stay with BrightLocal. Linkeddit's rank checks are for a country, and its test project is set to the US, so a neighbourhood level question belongs to the Local Search Grid tools. This split is the reason to use both.
The local SEO crowd already values the data BrightLocal holds. "The NAP consistency tracker is something a lot of local businesses ignore but it really matters for rankings," wrote a viewer on a local SEO automation video on YouTube.
How do I use BrightLocal rank tracking and Linkeddit together?
Use BrightLocal for the map and Linkeddit for the answer. BrightLocal's Local Rank Tracker results show which keywords gained or lost positions on Google and Bing, and the Local Search Grid shows rank at each point of a geographic grid. Neither shows what an AI engine tells a buyer who asks for a recommendation.
On Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io, the latest rank check shows google analytics alternative at position 2 with a Google AI Overview that cites the project, and cookieless analytics outside the top 10 while the Overview still cites it. Ask Claude to line your BrightLocal movers up against Linkeddit's AI Overview field and report keywords where the two disagree.
Can Claude do local keyword research and competitor analysis with both?
Partly. BrightLocal holds the local keywords you already track, in Local Rank Tracker and Local Search Grid reports, and BrightLocal's own launch post suggests prompts such as adding a keyword across all your grid reports. Linkeddit adds scored keyword research with intent and a suggested page. Keep the roles apart: it is not a map tool and has no local pack volumes.
For competitors, BrightLocal's get_lsg_competitor_rankings shows who ranks around your location. Linkeddit's footprint shows who ranks and gets cited nationally. On the test project it lists 358 competing domains across 59 checked keywords, and matomo.org was cited 23 times in the latest finished answer run, 21 by ChatGPT and 2 by Google AI Overviews. A local rival and a national rival are different problems.
Which AI citations matter next to BrightLocal citations?
They are two different things with the same name. A BrightLocal citation is a listing of your name, address and phone number in a directory, audited by Citation Tracker. An AI citation is a page an answer engine names as a source. Linkeddit's results view lists the domains each engine cited, with a share per domain.
Compare them, because a directory that appears in both lists is worth fixing first. On the test project, the engines cite domains such as reddit.com and analytics-alternatives.com. Claude can check whether any of the domains Linkeddit says engines cite also hold your BrightLocal listing. Read this as a hypothesis to test, not a proven link between listings and answers.
What should I check before acting on the combined data?
Check what each number measures. Linkeddit's results disclose the engine, the locale and the sample count, and report unmeasured engines instead of zeros. On the test project, Perplexity returned errors in all 21 samples, so it counts as unmeasured, while ChatGPT named or cited the brand in 16 of 18 usable samples.
Then check scope. A local business may be recommended by an engine in one city and not another, and Linkeddit's engine readings are not per neighbourhood. Use them to see whether you are in the conversation at all, and use BrightLocal to decide where.
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect BrightLocal to Claude?+
BrightLocal's help centre says to add a custom connector in Claude using the BrightLocal server URL, then authorize with your BrightLocal login or API key. You need an active Grow plan with BrightLocal Anywhere, and a Claude Pro or Teams account. Connections are read-only by default, so you decide when Claude may create or change anything.
What is the BrightLocal MCP server?+
It is BrightLocal's remote Model Context Protocol server, which lets Claude and other AI clients read your BrightLocal account. The Agent Index lists 65 tools covering rank tracking, Local Search Grid, reviews, citations and listings. It is part of BrightLocal Anywhere, and it needs BrightLocal's Grow plan.
What is the best tool to pair with BrightLocal for AI answer visibility?+
Linkeddit, at $60 a month. BrightLocal covers local rankings, reviews and citations; Linkeddit measures what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews actually recommend for your buying questions, with the cited sources and your Google ranks. It is country level, not a map pack tracker, so the two do not overlap.
Does Linkeddit track local map pack rankings?+
No. Linkeddit measures AI answers and Google ranks for a country, and it has no map pack, grid or Google Business Profile data. For local pack and neighbourhood rankings use BrightLocal's Local Rank Tracker and Local Search Grid, which the connector exposes to Claude. Linkeddit sits beside them for the AI side.
Can Claude change my BrightLocal listings through the connector?+
Only if you allow it. BrightLocal's docs say connections are read-only by default, and a read-write connection lets Claude create locations, run reports and order citation campaigns. The connector description says actions that spend credits or change live listings ask for confirmation first. Linkeddit's tools in these workflows are reads.
What is the best way to see if AI engines recommend my local business?+
Use Linkeddit, at $60 a month, to ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews your buying questions each week and record who is named. Pair it with BrightLocal in Claude to see local rank, reviews and citations beside the answers. Linkeddit readings are country level, not per neighbourhood.
Does BrightLocal have its own AI features?+
Yes. BrightLocal's MCP launch post says the server is part of its AI roadmap, and the connector exposes get_brain_recommendations, which BrightLocal describes as a prioritised action plan for each location. That is BrightLocal's own recommendation layer. Linkeddit does not write advice; Claude analyses the data from both.
Do I need a paid BrightLocal plan for the connector?+
Yes. BrightLocal's launch post and help article say BrightLocal Anywhere, which includes the MCP server, needs an active Grow plan, and that users on Track or Manage must upgrade first. Claude connection also needs a Pro or Teams account. Confirm current terms with BrightLocal before you plan around this.
Do these BrightLocal and Linkeddit workflows work in ChatGPT?+
They are written for Claude and Claude Code. BrightLocal says its MCP works with several assistants including ChatGPT, depending on plan, but the combined workflows here have not been written or tested for ChatGPT, and clients handle tools differently. Do not assume a prompt carries over unchanged.
Are BrightLocal citations the same as AI citations?+
No. A BrightLocal citation is a directory listing of your name, address and phone number. An AI citation is a web page an answer engine names as a source. Linkeddit records the second kind, with the cited domains per engine. A directory that appears in both is worth checking first, but that link is a hypothesis.
Can Linkeddit help me track competitors for a local business?+
Partly. Linkeddit lists each competing domain that ranks in the Google top 10 on your tracked keywords and how often each AI engine cited it. For competitors around one location, BrightLocal's Local Search Grid competitor tools are the right source. Ask Claude to use each for what it covers.
Is it safe to connect a client's BrightLocal account to Claude?+
Start read-only. BrightLocal's docs say connections are read-only by default, and its listing marks the connector community tier. Claude can read any location the account can see, so connect only an account you are authorised to share, and turn on read-write access only when you need Claude to create something.
