BigQuery and Linkeddit in Claude: load and query rank and AI answer data

BigQuery stores and queries data; it does not measure your search visibility. Linkeddit measures it: weekly Google ranks with the AI Overview recorded, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a competitor instead of you. Claude reads that data and loads it into BigQuery through Google's connector, after you approve each write, so you can join it to Search Console and run SQL over it.

What you can do with Google Cloud BigQuery and Linkeddit

How do BigQuery and Linkeddit split the work?

BigQuery is where the tables live. Google's connector lists five tools: execute_sql, get_dataset_info, get_table_info, list_dataset_ids and list_table_ids. Four inspect or read; Google says execute_sql is the only tool that is not read-only. It sees only the data already in your project.

Linkeddit is where the measurements come from. Search records weekly Google ranks and the AI Overview above them. Answer Radar asks the five engines your buying questions and records who is named and cited. Compete grades competitor moves. All of it comes with one plan at $60 a month, and Linkeddit writes no analysis.

Claude sits between them. It reads Linkeddit's data, proposes the SQL, and runs it only after you approve. The one guide in this hub covers the rank and AI Overview table.

How do I measure AI search visibility changes in BigQuery?

Treat each weekly check as a row. Search gives one per keyword with ai_overview_shown and ai_overview_cites_us, so a week-over-week SQL count shows whether Google's Overview names you more often. On the test project, plausible.io, the Overview cited the domain for 4 of the 5 keywords read in one live call, all on a first check, so there is no trend yet and none should be claimed.

Search's aio_impact view goes further when Search Console is connected: it splits keywords into those with and without an Overview and compares Search Console clicks before and after. Its windows default to 28 days each.

The same table design works for the other engines. Answer Radar records which brands each engine names, so a second table keyed by question, engine and check date carries them. Keep the two tables separate, since a Google rank and an engine answer are different measurements.

How do I build an AI share of voice report in BigQuery?

Share of voice is a ratio you compute, not a number you fetch. Load per-engine answer rows from Answer Radar, one per question, engine and check, with the brands named, then ask Claude to write the SQL: your mentions divided by all mentions, by engine and week. The query is yours, and so is the choice of denominator.

Competing guides, such as Supermetrics, show the same idea for Semrush data: compare your domain's visibility against competitors with SQL-powered share of voice reports. The difference here is the source. It is what the answer engines said when asked your buying questions, not a rank estimate.

Cap each pull. Google documents a 3,000-row result limit and a three-minute query limit on the BigQuery connector, so aggregate in SQL instead of asking Claude to read raw rows back.

Why load the data into BigQuery instead of asking Claude directly?

For one week of data, you do not need to. Claude can read Linkeddit's checks and answer directly. BigQuery earns its place when you want history that outlives a conversation, joins to Search Console or revenue tables, or a table other tools such as Looker Studio can read.

Google's Search Console bulk export already puts your performance data there daily, which is the other half of the join. Its first export arrives up to 48 hours after setup and is not retroactive. Weekly rank checks stored from today give you the measured side to line up against it.

History matters because rank moves and comes back. An SEO at an agency on Reddit described a page that kept doing this: "Only for that page to drop out of the top 100 rankings for a period of time (sometimes a few days / sometimes a week or so)." Dated rows in a table make a gap like that visible later.

What should I check before letting Claude write to BigQuery?

Start with a scratch dataset. Ask Claude to show every statement before it calls execute_sql, and give the agent its own identity with the narrowest roles that work. Google recommends a separate identity for agents using MCP tools so access can be controlled and monitored, and it documents IAM deny policies for read-write MCP tools.

Keep measured fields apart from your own judgments. Store Linkeddit's values as delivered, including nulls. A null rank means not in the top 10 and a null change means there was no earlier check or either check was outside the top 10; neither is zero.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use BigQuery for SEO and AI visibility tracking?+

Load measured checks into BigQuery tables, one row per keyword per check date, and query them next to your Search Console export. BigQuery does not check Google or AI engines itself, so use Linkeddit for the weekly ranks, AI Overview flags and answer-engine results, and let Claude load them after you approve.

What is the best tool for BigQuery SEO rank tracking?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data. Search checks your tracked keywords on Google every week and records your position, whether an AI Overview appeared and whether it cited you. Claude writes the checks into BigQuery through Google's connector, so there is no custom loader to build or maintain.

Can Claude connect to BigQuery?+

Yes. Google hosts a remote BigQuery MCP server at bigquery.googleapis.com/mcp and documents using it with Claude. It signs in with OAuth and IAM, and it can list datasets and tables and run SQL within the permissions you hold, with a 3,000-row result cap.

Does Linkeddit write to BigQuery?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data and writes nothing to BigQuery. Claude writes through Google's connector under your own permissions, and you approve each statement first. You can also block the write tool with an IAM deny policy and let Claude only read.

Does BigQuery have a native rank tracker?+

No. BigQuery is a warehouse. Google's Search Console bulk export fills it with impressions, clicks and position data once a day, but that is searcher data, not a keyword rank check. Rank trackers load their own tables, or Claude can load Linkeddit's checks.

Which clients work with the Linkeddit and BigQuery connectors?+

These guides are written for Claude and Claude Code, where you add both connectors and let Claude work across them. Google's documentation lists other clients for its BigQuery server, but the workflows here have only been written for Claude, so do not assume they carry over unchanged.

What is the best way to track AI search visibility in BigQuery?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, because it measures what BigQuery cannot: weekly Google ranks with the AI Overview recorded, and which brands five answer engines name for your buying questions. Claude loads those checks as dated rows through Google's connector, so you can trend visibility with plain SQL.

What is the BigQuery connector for Claude?+

It is Google's remote MCP server for BigQuery, at bigquery.googleapis.com/mcp, which Google documents using with Claude. It lets an AI client list datasets and tables, read their schemas and run SQL under your own IAM permissions. Google says it is enabled when you enable the BigQuery API.

How do I track AI Overviews in BigQuery?+

Store one row per keyword per check with two booleans: whether Google showed an AI Overview and whether it listed your domain. Linkeddit returns both flags for every tracked keyword, and Claude inserts them after you approve. On the test project, 4 of 5 keywords read had an Overview citing the domain.

How do I build an AI share of voice report in BigQuery?+

Load one row per question, engine and check with the brands each answer named, then have Claude write SQL dividing your mentions by all mentions, by engine and week. Answer Radar supplies the rows from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews. You choose the denominator, so state it on the report.

Does storing this data in BigQuery cost money?+

Possibly. Google's Search Console export guidance says storage and query usage above a free level is charged, and Google's connector doc says billing is optional because BigQuery offers a sandbox. Weekly rank rows are small, so cost depends mostly on your query volume and any Search Console export.
