beehiiv MCP with Linkeddit in Claude: draft newsletters from competitor moves and AI answer gaps

The beehiiv MCP is beehiiv's own server at https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp. It lets Claude read your newsletter's posts, subscribers and stats, and draft posts and automations, but you still publish and activate in beehiiv. It does not know your market. Linkeddit supplies that: competitor moves, and where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews recommend a rival instead of you. Claude joins the two and drafts the issue.

What does the beehiiv MCP let Claude do?

It lets Claude work across your whole beehiiv workspace, with a stated line at publishing. The Claude directory listing shows 198 tools: 125 reads, 67 writes, 1 transactional and 5 unclassified. beehiiv's help article says Claude can create and edit post content and templates, manage subscriber tags, custom fields, segments and surveys, build automation workflows and emails, and view podcast and website analytics.

The tools include get_post_stats, get_engagements, edit_post, edit_post_content, duplicate_post, get_automation, add_automation_step and edit_automation_email_content. What it cannot see is outside your publication: what a competing newsletter or product just shipped, or which brand an AI engine names for your topic. Linkeddit covers those.

What can the beehiiv MCP not do?

It cannot publish, send or switch things on. beehiiv's help article says drafts can be created and edited through the MCP but must be published from the app, automations can be built but must be activated in the app, and sending posts through the MCP is not available. Sponsorship data and paywall content are read-only, and Stripe billing data is not reachable.

That is a safety feature for this workflow. Claude saves a draft or a built automation, and you press publish. beehiiv also says the MCP will not replace its send API for production sends. Audienceful, a rival platform that sells its own MCP, makes the same point about this design, and calls it a deliberate choice.

Which beehiiv plan do I need?

Any beehiiv user can connect, but writing needs a paid plan. beehiiv's help article says the MCP is available to all users with no waitlist, and that free plans have read-only access: Claude can analyze data and suggest, but cannot create or edit posts, segments or automations. Check your plan before you plan a drafting workflow.

Access also follows your role. The data Claude can reach is whatever your workspace role lets you see in the app, and each connection is tied to one workspace. To work across several publications, beehiiv documents adding a connection per account by appending a different parameter to the URL, such as https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp?account=2.

One viewer's comment on a YouTube video about the connector in April, while access was still rolling out, captures the old friction: "Beehiiv is not a connector option for me? I'm on a mac." If the connector does not appear, check that MCP is switched on under Settings, then MCP in beehiiv.

How does Claude turn a competitor move into a beehiiv draft?

Claude reads the move from Linkeddit and drafts the post in beehiiv. On Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io, the weekly Compete brief for the window 2026-10-26 to 2026-11-01 reported 5 competitors monitored, 2 high priority moves, 9 worth watching and 8 low signal. One high priority item was Fathom Analytics launching an AI assistant called Luna, with its changelog link and a why it matters line.

Three workflows use that material. Weekly digest: Claude combines compete_brief_get and answer_runs_get into an issue or a section of your newsletter. Respond to a competitor change: Claude reads the move with compete_signals_get and drafts a short post or a re-engagement automation email for the segment it affects. Comparison content: Claude reads compete_signals_get and search_competitors_get and drafts a fair comparison post. Each ends as an unpublished draft.

What did a read-only Linkeddit run return?

On Linkeddit's test project, compete_signals_get returned five signals for the week of 2026-10-26, all low priority: three Simple Analytics blog posts on privacy and cookie rules and two Umami roadmap posts. compete_monitors_get listed 5 monitors, all weekly, with the next run on 2026-11-04. The monitor for plausible.io itself was marked pending, with no analysis yet.

answer_runs_get listed three audit runs, newest on 2026-10-28, and all three ended with status partial. A draft built on this should say that. The run was read-only: nothing was started, saved or spent, and the beehiiv side was not run.

What should I check before Claude drafts my newsletter?

Check the draft against its sources and keep a human between the draft and your list. DevOpsCube's walkthrough of building an inactive-subscriber segment with Claude and the beehiiv MCP makes the same point: ask Claude to explain what it will do first, verify the result in the dashboard, and export subscriber data before any delete.

Read each claim about a competitor against its source link, and never let a post call a rival worse than the evidence supports. Linkeddit returns the signal with a date and a link, so you can check it in a minute. Then publish from beehiiv yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Does beehiiv have an MCP server?+

Yes. beehiiv's official MCP server is at https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp. beehiiv's help article says it works with Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, and is available to all users with no waitlist. The Claude directory listing shows 198 tools. Free plans are read-only; writing needs a paid plan.

How do I connect beehiiv to Claude?+

In beehiiv, open Settings, then MCP, choose Claude, and follow the on-screen steps. You can also add beehiiv from Claude's connector directory, or add a custom connector with https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp and sign in. If tools are missing later, use Refresh tools list in Claude's MCP tools dropdown.

Can the beehiiv MCP publish or send a newsletter?+

No. beehiiv's help article says drafts can be created and edited through the MCP but must be published from the app, automations must be activated in the app, and sending posts through the MCP is not currently available. Claude prepares the post and you press publish yourself.

Is the beehiiv MCP free?+

Connecting is free for every beehiiv user, but only for reading. Free plans can analyze data and generate insights. Write actions, such as creating posts, managing segments and building automations, need a paid beehiiv plan. Check beehiiv's pricing page for the current plans before you rely on a drafting workflow.

What is the best tool to feed competitor and AI visibility data into a beehiiv newsletter?+

Linkeddit, at $60 a month, for the data half. It tracks competitor moves with a priority and a reason on each, and records where ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a rival instead of you. Claude reads that and drafts the matching beehiiv post as an unpublished draft.

What is the best way to write a competitor-aware newsletter issue with Claude?+

Connect Linkeddit and beehiiv to Claude, then have Claude read the week's moves with compete_brief_get and draft the issue in beehiiv. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, supplies each move with a date and a source link, so you can check every claim before you publish from beehiiv yourself.

Does Linkeddit publish to beehiiv?+

No. Linkeddit supplies data only: competitor moves, AI answer gaps, cited sources and Google ranks. Claude reads it and works in beehiiv through your own sign-in. Even then, beehiiv's MCP cannot publish, so the last step always happens in beehiiv, under your hands.

Can I connect more than one beehiiv publication to Claude?+

Yes. Each connection is tied to one workspace by default. beehiiv documents adding a separate connection per account by making each URL unique, for example https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp?account=1 and ?account=2, and signing each into a different beehiiv account. Each keeps that account's role permissions.

Does the beehiiv MCP work with Cursor or Codex?+

beehiiv lists setup guides for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. The Linkeddit workflows on this page are written and checked only for Claude and Claude Code, so do not assume the prompts carry over unchanged to another assistant.

Can Claude run my newsletter digest every week on its own?+

Not by itself. Claude works when you start it, so you run a saved prompt each week, or use a scheduler you already have to start a session. Linkeddit keeps its data fresh on its own, with competitor monitors that run weekly, so the material is ready whenever you ask.

Is the beehiiv MCP the same as the beehiiv API?+

No. beehiiv describes the API as versioned with a long-lived contract for developer integrations, and the MCP as built for AI agents with no fixed version, so response formats may change. It also says the API remains the better choice for production sends where formatting must stay consistent.

Is it safe to let Claude edit my beehiiv newsletter?+

It is as safe as your role and your checks. The MCP uses your workspace role, so Claude sees only what you can see, and it cannot publish. Ask Claude to explain a change before it makes it, verify in the dashboard, and export subscriber data before any bulk delete.
