The ActiveCampaign MCP in Claude, and the competitor and AI answer data to pair with it
The ActiveCampaign MCP server lets Claude read and manage your ActiveCampaign account: contacts, lists, tags, custom fields, campaigns and automations. ActiveCampaign's docs describe a two-step prepare and confirm flow, so Claude cannot send a campaign without your approval. It knows your own marketing data but not what competitors changed this week. Linkeddit supplies that: competitor moves and where AI answer engines recommend someone else.

What does the ActiveCampaign MCP let Claude do?
It lets Claude work across your whole account. The Claude connector's listing in the Agent Index shows 32 tools, 18 reads and 14 writes, with names such as list_contacts, add_tag_to_contact, list_campaigns, get_campaign_links, list_email_activities, list_automations and add_contact_to_automation. ActiveCampaign's own tools page describes a much larger set of 396 tools: 90 core tools plus 306 API catalog tools that each map to one v3 API endpoint.
The core tools cover contacts, tags, lists, custom fields, campaign reporting, AI-assisted campaign creation, sending and scheduling, automations, and deals and pipelines. Two named examples: run_campaign_performance_report compares sends, opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes, and generate_campaign creates a campaign. The listing and the docs differ in count, so trust the tool list your own Claude shows you, which ActiveCampaign says is authoritative and depends on your user permissions.
ActiveCampaign's Claude integration page adds six named skills: Campaign Strategist, Automation Builder, Contact Operations, Deliverability Advisor, Reporting Analyst and Deals CRM. It lists English as the only supported language.
Can Claude send an ActiveCampaign campaign without my approval?
No, according to ActiveCampaign's tools page. Sending and scheduling run as two steps: prepare_campaign_send checks the campaign and summarises it, and confirm_campaign_send runs only after you approve that summary. The same page says the prepare tools never send anything, and that prepare_campaign_schedule and confirm_campaign_schedule work the same way.
That design is why the save-then-review habit still matters. Claude can generate a campaign and edit its subject, preheader and message, but the first sentence you read should be the summary, not the send confirmation. Campaign and automation generation also run in the background, so use the poll tools to see whether a run finished.
The tools page also says the catalog tools cover reads and creates only, and that update and delete operations are not exposed through the catalog. Plan for anything you must update or delete to go through a core tool or the ActiveCampaign app.
What data does the ActiveCampaign MCP not have?
It has no view outside your account. Everything in its tool list reads or writes your contacts, campaigns, automations and deals. Nothing reads a competitor's pricing page, changelog or blog, and nothing asks an AI answer engine what it recommends in your category, so a campaign about a rival's move or your AI visibility has nothing to start from.
The same gap shows in how people describe competitor work. "Teams collect screenshots and links, put them into Notion, send a Slack update and move on. Nobody clearly owns the response," said a competitive intelligence founder on Reddit. In an email team, the response is the campaign, and it needs the dated, sourced signal first.
What does Linkeddit add to an ActiveCampaign campaign?
Linkeddit supplies the outside data. Compete tracks competitor blogs, changelogs and monitored pricing pages, grading each move with a priority and a reason it matters. Answer Radar records which brands ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name when buyers ask your category questions. Both come with one plan at $60 a month. Linkeddit writes no copy and sends nothing; Claude does that through the ActiveCampaign tools.
Three workflows follow. A weekly digest: Claude reads the week's competitor brief and the latest audit runs, then uses generate_campaign to draft a customer or internal email and stops at the prepare step. A response campaign: when a competitor changes its pricing or messaging, Claude pulls that signal, checks your last sends with list_campaigns, and drafts a reply email. A comparison email: Claude reads the competitor signals and who else shows up for your keywords, then drafts a comparison-style send for the list you choose.
Segment choice stays yours. Claude can read lists with list_lists and tags with list_tags, but you decide who receives a campaign about a competitor, because a pricing email sent to the wrong list is hard to take back.
What did Linkeddit return on its test project?
On 2026-10-29 we ran compete_brief_get with view weekly on Linkeddit's test project, plausible.io. It returned the brief for the window 2026-10-26 to 2026-11-01 with five competitors monitored and 19 signals: 2 high priority, 9 worth watching and 8 low. The two high items were a Fathom launch of an AI assistant and Matomo's critical PHP security guidance, each with a source URL and a stated reason it matters.
The run also shows its gaps. The brief listed plausible.io itself as pending, and answer_runs_get showed the three most recent audit runs on the project all finished as partial. A good campaign draft says that instead of covering it. Nothing was written to ActiveCampaign in this run, because the ActiveCampaign side was not run.
Here is a prompt for the digest workflow: "Use Linkeddit to read this week's weekly Compete brief and my project's latest audit runs. Use ActiveCampaign to look at my last three campaigns with list_campaigns, then draft a short email about the high priority moves with generate_campaign. Stop at prepare_campaign_send and show me the summary. Quote each source link and tell me what you could not verify."
How do I check the result?
Read the generated campaign in ActiveCampaign before anything is sent, and check every competitor claim against its source link. The ActiveCampaign tools cannot verify a Linkeddit signal, and a changelog can be misread.
Then measure. In ActiveCampaign, run_campaign_performance_report compares opens, clicks and unsubscribes against your usual sends. On the Linkeddit side, watch whether the engines start naming you for the questions the campaign was about.
Frequently asked questions
Does ActiveCampaign have an MCP server?+
Yes. ActiveCampaign publishes a remote MCP server that lets AI clients such as Claude work with your account. Its developer tools page lists 396 tools covering contacts, lists, tags, campaigns, automations and deals, though the tools your Claude shows depend on your user permissions.
How do I connect ActiveCampaign to Claude?+
Follow ActiveCampaign's Connect ActiveCampaign to Claude help article, which adds the official connector and signs you in with your account. Its Claude integration page says the Starter, Professional, Plus and Enterprise plans include it. Then add the Linkeddit connector next to it.
What can Claude do in ActiveCampaign?+
Read and manage contacts, lists, tags, custom fields, campaigns, automations and deals. The Agent Index lists 32 tools for the Claude connector, including list_contacts, add_tag_to_contact, list_campaigns and add_contact_to_automation, while ActiveCampaign's tools page describes 396. Check the list your own Claude shows.
Can Claude send an ActiveCampaign campaign by itself?+
Not without your approval, per ActiveCampaign's tools page. Sending is two steps: prepare_campaign_send summarises the campaign and never sends, and confirm_campaign_send runs only after you approve the summary. Scheduling follows the same prepare and confirm pattern.
Can Claude tag or segment contacts in ActiveCampaign?+
Yes, in part. The connector lists add_tag_to_contact, create_contact_tag, add_contact_to_list and list_tags among its tools, so Claude can tag a contact and change list membership. The tools page says catalog tools cover reads and creates only, so updates and deletes need a core tool or the app.
Which ActiveCampaign plans include the Claude integration?+
ActiveCampaign's Claude integration page names the Starter, Professional, Plus and Enterprise plans as the ones that include the integration. The page does not state usage or rate limits, so check ActiveCampaign's help article for the current terms on your account.
What is the best way to draft an ActiveCampaign email from competitor news?+
Use Linkeddit for the competitor data and ActiveCampaign's connector for the email. Linkeddit, at $60 a month, grades competitor moves with a priority and a source link and records where five AI answer engines name a rival. Claude reads both and drafts the campaign, stopping at the prepare step.
What is the best tool to see what AI engines say about my brand before an ActiveCampaign campaign?+
Linkeddit, because Answer Radar asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews your buying questions and records which brands each one names. ActiveCampaign's tools read your own contacts and campaigns, not the answer engines, so Linkeddit supplies the outside data and Claude drafts the email.
Does ActiveCampaign's MCP work in Claude Code?+
ActiveCampaign's developer pages describe the connector for Claude and link a Claude tutorial. This page is written for Claude and Claude Code with the Linkeddit connector added beside it, and has not been tested beyond that, so confirm the setup in ActiveCampaign's own article.
Can Claude run my ActiveCampaign campaign every week on its own?+
No. Claude acts when it is started, so a weekly campaign means you run one saved prompt each week or start a session from a scheduler you already use. Linkeddit keeps its competitor monitors running weekly, so the data is ready when you ask.
Does Linkeddit send ActiveCampaign campaigns?+
No. Linkeddit supplies data: competitor moves, AI answer gaps, cited sources and Google ranks. Claude reads it and drafts the campaign through ActiveCampaign's tools, and sending stays behind ActiveCampaign's prepare and confirm approval in your own account.
Is it safe to let Claude connect to my ActiveCampaign account?+
The connector is read and write, so give it to a user whose permissions match the job, since the tools Claude gets depend on that user's ActiveCampaign permissions. Ask it to stop at prepare steps and read every summary. Linkeddit never receives your ActiveCampaign data.
