Research Reports: Analyzing Subreddits and Competitors

Research reports give you structured analysis of a subreddit or competitor presence based on real Reddit data. They surface what content performs well, how the community engages, what writing styles resonate, and what topics are underserved. Every report is saved to your campaign's Research tab and can be used to guide AI content generation.

Creating a subreddit analysis report

From the Research tab in any campaign, click New Report and select Subreddit Analysis. Enter the subreddit name and click Generate. The system will fetch recent posts and engagement data from the subreddit, analyze patterns, and produce a structured report within about sixty seconds.

The subreddit analysis report examines top-performing posts, common content formats, engagement patterns, posting frequency norms, and community tone. It also generates a set of content recommendations specific to your campaign based on what it observes about the community.

Creating a competitor analysis report

Competitor analysis reports require a Reddit username. Enter the username of a competitor or a brand you want to study, and the system will analyze their post and comment history to identify which communities they are active in, what topics they engage with, and how their content is received.

This type of report is particularly useful when you want to understand where a competitor is building presence and identify subreddits where you could add value with a different perspective or approach. The report highlights gaps in their coverage that your content could fill.

Understanding report sections

Each research report is organized into several sections. Top Posts shows the highest-performing recent content in the analyzed subreddit or from the analyzed account, with upvote counts and comment totals. Engagement Patterns identifies what post types, lengths, and topics tend to drive replies and upvotes.

Writing Style summarizes the tone, vocabulary, and structural patterns common in high-performing posts. Recommendations is the most actionable section, offering specific content ideas and positioning suggestions based on the analysis. This section is directly used when you choose the From Research generation path in the AI content generator.

Using reports to guide content creation

Reports are most valuable when they are connected directly to your content generation workflow. After reviewing a report, use the From Research generation path in the content generator to create posts that are explicitly informed by the report's findings. The AI will reference the engagement patterns and recommendations when writing the draft.

You can also open the research chat from any report to ask follow-up questions about the data. This lets you explore specific angles before committing to a generation, for example by asking the AI to identify the three most underserved topics in the subreddit or to suggest how to frame your product in the context of what the community values.

FAQ

How long does a research report take to generate?

Most research reports complete in under sixty seconds. Subreddit analysis of very active communities with many recent posts may take slightly longer as there is more data to process.

Are reports saved permanently to my campaign?

Yes. All reports are saved to the Research tab of the campaign they were created in. You can revisit any report at any time, though the data reflects conditions at the time of generation.

How many research reports can I create?

Report generation uses ScraperAPI credits. The number of reports you can create per day depends on your daily credit limit, which varies by plan. See the CMS tier limits guide for specifics.
